As the thread title says, one of my friends and I will be starting a dedicated server for Halo Custom Edition. All of my friends on xfire will be given the password (which will be rotated on a regular basis), along with some of you here on the forum who still play HCE. I am looking for two things:

1. Who wants in? I can immediately tell you that you won't be accepted if I haven't had any positive interaction with you in the past, but you an always post here or PM me to check if you have potential.

2. What maps should be run? The server's map and gametype list will be rotated regularly (along with the password) to accommodate those who are using the server, so I need some good suggestions. Everyone knows that I am a stickler for quality when it comes to what maps I play on, so keep that in mind.

Some of the maps up for consideration are:
All of the stock H1/HPC maps
Anxiety
Augury
Beryl
Camtrack Arena
CMT's most recent releases
Corrupted
Delta Ruined
Fission Point
Fissure Falls
Gallowspole
Grove
Launch Bay
Launch Bay X
Lost Cove
Majestic
Mask
Mudslide
Municipality
New Mombasa Classic
No Remorse
Paradise Lost
Portent
Prodigy
Siege
Sneak
Solitude
The Narrows
Vendetta
Yoyorast Island

Any suggestions for gametypes for the above listed maps, or other maps with gametypes are welcome.

Why does it need to be passworded? besides, a password that changes regularly is a bad idea because people don't want to go hunt it out every time they wanna play a game.

The more password protected dedis we have, the more rp games and such there are, and rp games just suck...

A rotating password might not be that practical now that I think about it. We probably won't bother, unless people start giving out the old password. Also, some of the best games I have been in are the ones with just my friends and skilled players. Not having mindless masses running around and trying to get to secret rooms, going afk, or betraying everyone is actually quite fun. The best match I have ever played was a 2v2 king of the hill on Yoyorast Island with three of my friends. Everyone knew how to play, we were all courteous to each other, there wasn't any improper language being thrown about, and

*gasp*

NOBODY was accused of aimbotting! if that isn't a gratifying gaming experience, then I've really been missing out.

Unless you've got a good 10-12 mates that can be on at any one time and be keen to play CE, there's no point in having it passworded. Also, you're missing Quagmire, Claustrophobia, Nightcamp_CE, Wartorn Cove 3 and djw delta station (although for shotty slayer only, pretty much).

Thanks, I'll be sure to take a look at those - and yes, I do have over 16 people who would like to regularly game only with other experienced and respecting people.

You missed out that more than half the people here don't play CE anymore they just like to mod it.

IMO, a public server with lots of (trusted) admins without a password would be better than a private server, because you could get more players and those who were being idiots would just get kicked.
