As many of you probably know Intel released their new 45nm quad core Penyr a few months ago. Well they finally have released 45nm Dual cores and theses things show alot of promise.

There are already a few reviews of them on the internet and the E8200, E8400, and E8500 will sell for roughly the same as the E6550, E6750, and E6850. The best thing though is the much higher overclockability. X-bit labs (http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/intel-wolfdale_2.html#sect0) was able to achieve an overclock on the E8500 of 3.66GHz without changing the core voltages. And with vcore at 1.5 volts they were able to reach 4.37GHz and stay stable.

I think I know what my next processor will be if its not quad core would be the E8400.
I think the E8400 would be the one too get, only $20 more then teh E8200 but $80 less then the E8500, but still 3GHz.

So opinions on that.

Oh and the new HD3870X2's are out and they beat the 8800 Ultra and will cost about $450. I'm not sure about it, but hey ATI finally trying to retake teh crown. To bad the 9800X2 (aka 8800GTX times 2) is beating them still. But I think ATi is aiming more at none bleeding edge peopel for now.

It's actually a tweaked version of the G92 Core in the 8800 GTS 512MB.

:v

As for the original topic, I'm saving up for a quad core Penryn. I still hope I actually get some free fucking time to overclock my current CPU some more since it boots at 2.8 on stock volts and doesn't go over 28 degrees Celsius at load :D

At 1.5 vcore with 45nm is like 1.6 vcore on 65nm. So that may be a 'stable' oc, but I wouldn't run at more than 1.4 on a 45nm.

I think an E8400 would be nice. with a solid 3.29ghz at 366fsb is an easy, cool oc. no need to run at 4+ghz for daily use.

Its actually 1.42-1.46 taking into account vcore droop. [/quote from review]

It's actually dual GPUS, most likely based off the old GTS.

Care to make it interesting?

I assumed that everyone figured out the dual GPU part considering we all know that the GX2 cards have 2 cores.

I'll need to find the exact article but I have one bookmarked that says it will use a G92-450 core (I think the current 8800 GTS 512 uses a G92-400 or something like that). They are probably just bumping the speeds on the new core.

Xetsueiâ„¢;217037']ftfyLike legionaire45 said, we assumed that everyone knew it was dual gpu. Seeing as how the new 8800 GTS uses the g92 400 A2, and the 9800GX2 uses the g92 450 A2, I was right. Link here (http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=230836).

Anyways, the Intel 8400 is great since you can overclock it to hell with the stock HSF, but when you put a after market HSF, or watercooling, you can really see the potential of the new architecture.

k you post made it sound like it was only one GPU.
