I don't know if this is new or not (it would be about a year ago).
But anways people had always said to me halos engine doesn't support things like this, but then playing the maw (about a year ago) when you have to shoot those engine pistons I noticed when they move you move too.

So a year later I decide to try it ingame, heres a little vid of it in action (2mb streaming). http://files.filefront.com/Sideways+Elevator+H1wmv/;9588232;/fileinfo.html

To do this (its really really simple), all you gotta do is make the elevator node index 1 and change the type to platform in the device_machine tag.

If this is old please don't bash me and call me a noob, I've just always heard its impossible

It is. You'll have a fun little time getting it to work properly online.

Wasn't going to try + I already knew that, just wanted to demonstrate it.

Me and some other sigma guys were trying to replicate this with vehicles, but we didnt have any luck.

As for syncing online, I think a typical device sync script would do?

Old.

Possibly, I just meant that he may have trouble with people skipping around on it.

old.

can sync online.
make a vehicle with custom animation, and link the seat node to an animated part.
make it animate, player moves along with it, and can get out somewhere else.

i did it a while ago. i'd post the tags, but i don't have em anymore.

That kind of defeats the purpose having an elevator and walking around on/in it.

But yeah, that's just the way it is.
