Okay, I was going to bump an old topic but people would probably complain.

Firstly, reason I dont have a picture from speedtest.net is because with the upload speed, it just keeps uploading. It wont stop and give me a test result. If some one can post another testing thingy, it might work through the firewall settings I have.

With my connection I'm glad it even loaded the flash....

Also, that's KiloBITS.../8 = 6310,75 KiloBYTES or ~6 MegaBYTES for down and
up...4654,375 KiloBYTES or ~5 MegaBYTES.

Just to clear things up...we don't want to see a 50MB download do we :P

True, its still 50MBit down though. Most I've got is 5.5megabyte a second down load. Love it, sadly next year I'll be stuck on crappy adsl :(

with just about any internet connections you only get about 10% of the internet you payd for when downloading.
sometimes you get lucky and get more depending on who's downloading that file around the world and how close it is to you, but the average is 10%

i've never ever heard of a person with 8mb down internet actually receiving 8mb down.

I remember I had a weird but like that with Speakeasy's test. I usually have 2.8kbps down but it showed that i had around 23000 kbps...WTF? Then I ran it again, and it was normal.

Why feel jipped about 4899kb/s down? And Limited, as for being stuck on "crappy" ADSL, look at some of us who have their maximum download speed capped at 30kb/s. I jump for joy at the chance to go visit my Mom a couple days a month who has full ADSL, capped at 300kb/s.

30kb/s really sucks since I bet I'm not paying much less than some of you who have 5mb/s or more.

I dont even know what they call my download speed, I'm not actually paying for the net, it came with the room, so I pay my rent and its part of rent money. SO they havent ever said "hey this is blahbalh mg download speed". Some times its fast sometimes is slow, its down quite alot as well due to "maintence". I did that test late at night, if I do it in day its slower.

There are only two service providers by me minus dial-up and satillite, Comcast and AT&T. Unfortunately, even though I'm in an extremely rapidly growing suburb right outside Chicago, I'm "out of range" of their hubs and must pay more for less. Comcast doesn't seem to be an option, as I have satillite TV, and I can only get a Cable and Internet package deal from them.

I blame steam, whether or not i'm retarded is debatable, but i had trouble getting it up and running again because every time i tried to connect, my network connections where going nuts and saying it was already connecting :/
then i noticed steam was apparently "online", so i killed all my aps leeching my net and allowed it to establish itself before re-running xfire and firefox ect.

worked perfectly after that :/
