Recomendation: Either Team slayer or CTF the map was really designed for ctf becuase its basicly symatricall. Thanks boobysoon for helping me with the 0 x 0 x 0 deminsions thing!

Basicly a oval like map with a large hole on the midle of it.
The next map Features lots of gameplay. Its called Bune. Bune is set on the side of a large cliff just waiting to be used as a battle field! >:) this map is cool becuase a foruner ledge runs accros the cliff on the terrain. on the ledge you can say try to push them off the ledge or such :)
Heres some pics.

WAY too simplistic! I wouldn't have released these. they look like maps you practice learning the HEK with. Almost completely flat and open, they look like they took at the most, 15 minutes to model.

Now that youve started your first map, learn to use the hek and model better, Good luck!

My opinion:
1) Work on cliffs.
2) Learn/practice unwrapping
3) Practice your modeling until you can actually make something that is not as flat and boxy as the bases.
4) Play around with your vertexes a bit; they seem bored.
5) Give some height to the terrain, most flat maps are boring.
6) Bases need light so people can see.
7) Cave entrances are usually not square shaped.
8) Vehicles are pretty useless in a small map like this one.
9) Keep practicing your skills, you are headed in a good direction.

Overall rating from the pictures 1.7/5
Overall from gameplay 2.5/5

nice comment to ruin his confidence there snafufu, maybe it would take you 15 minutes to model them, but hes new... so it probably didn't take him that long.

How ever snaf is right, they aren't ready to be released. There too low poly, much of the terrain is flat, and doesn't flow too well (especially on bune, the terrain needs to be higher poly). You want to avoid jagged edges on terrain (in exception of very rocky surfaces, but even then what you have is still too jagged) try to make the terrain flow more.

Practice makes perfect, try practicing terrain by making a plan in 3dsmax and just try to make simple cliffs/tunnels, just experiment. Terrain is fun to work on because there really isn't any "wrong terrain" you sort of just get to pick and choose what to make (provided it would fit into game play but if your practicing it doesn't matter too much, just make sure that the surfaces look nice and the chief would actually be able to walk on them ingame). Avoid non planar faces as much as possible except when they are necessary (they often are in terrain but usually the angle change on them is small, when its not you get jagged low poly looking terrain which is ugly). Another thing to take into account with terrain (or any type of organic modeling) is triangulation. A poly is made up of 2 triangles. These triangles are connected and leave a diagonal edge, when this edge isn't flat thats a nonplanar face, then triangulation is the direction that its pointing in.

He tends to do that a lot. :-/

But yeah, for a first map, this is way better than the other crap I've seen before. Usually people make a box with crappy textures and call that good. At least you put some effort into it. Nice job. But keep working on it. :D

thanks for the posts guys ima gonna keep working on bune though. I've added 2 new things to it, in the big room theres a hole in the ceiling and in the wall there a hole to (like rocky cliffs ya now) and a stream will come iinto the big room threw it.

make sure you make the ground have more design and fix some of those UVW's

I now, im doing that now as well but if someone could teach me to use photoshop to make a good ground texture for bune that would be auesome.

cry about it some more, it makes me happy.

as for learning to make ground textures, nobody needs to teach you. there's more tutorials out there for things like grass, sand, dirt, rock, gravel, etc etc etc than you can count :google: or www.pixel2life.com it's more a question of your willingness to learn.

There's two of you working on these, so perhaps you can try a murder/suicide pact?
