Well when I try to make a database, using Navicat 8 and SQLylog, and try to test the connection on port 3306 (default) it gives me the error:

1045: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'

I've tried port forwarding, and looked it up under portforwarding.com. I've even googled the Error # and "Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'" still no luck with a solution. I've tried upgrading to .NET Framework 2.0 (didn't know why I didn't have that) and upgrading. I'm new to MySQL so I'm hoping for a simple answer. I have administrator rights and everything, so I don't know why it gives me an Access Denied. I've tried connecting with and without a password.

Here are 2 example screenshots of what's going on.

And I click Test-Connection, and get this:

Any idea of what could be causing this problem?
To any solutions that WORK I'll give you +rep :)

Just a shot... try 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost.

When you installed MySQL it asked if you wanted to change the root user's password did you happen to do this?

By default it is root

By default it is root
Maybe it's just different in the Linux default install, but there is no password as default and root is not accessible for login from a remote connection.

In the installation/setup it asks you if you wish to make the user root accessible for remote connections, and the default password may be blank, I'm not actually positive. Its been a few months since I've tinkered with MySQL
