View Full Version : [HALO 3] Wondering about the exact differences between Beta and this game.

Aside from obvious technical/weapon/map design etc. changes, what differences are there between the beta and final versions of Halo 3? Yes, I know, late to the party, but I just really enjoyed the beta more than the final game, moreover, I was A LOT better at it too. I'm wondering because I wanna try to make a custom gametype with similar properties to the beta, if I can at all.

Different weapon properties, possibly different shield levels. One example would be the carbine which was like h3's version of the pistol in the beta.

Spartan laser was redone to keep you from being able to sweep your shots, the contrails were smaller, reticle was different.
Deploying equipment was given animations.
Other than that and the carbine I'm not sure, other than a few graphical tweaks.
People said the beta was better and took more "skill." I say the game didn't change THAT much since the Beta other than the Laser and Carbine.

The tripmine fucking sucks now. All it's good for is accidentally blowing up your teammates; doesn't do shit against enemies and their vehicles.

the assault rifle's bolt doesn't do back when you fire anymore. i think the spiker does less damage too

The Spartan's skins have changed too. In the beta they had very noticeable wear on the armour and colours were slightly worn down. In the final game the armour looks brand new and has bright, glossy colours.

kinda hard to hear it when you're driving some trigger happy 12 year old on the gunner plus some grenade spewing shit fest in the passenger all while some idiot on your team is screaming (yes, bloody fucking screaming) the star spangle banner and you can't stop the goddamn warthog to mute his arse because this piss poor shot keeps nicking you with the laser, leading you to drive around that bend right into the fucking mine that you're passenger threw down shortly before hoping into your bloody warthog, giving the moron with the laser a double kill and the passenger a suicide because bungie hates you.

From what people say the battle rifle was also more consistent.
I personally liked the old armour a little better, which was a little more battle-worn.
I dont understand why the trip-mine was weakened. Is there much point to using it if you have grenades?

i wish you could kick sand/dirt over it =) the light show is quite noticable. only a noob would go and be like..."hey something is glowing on the ground i show go see what it is and jump on it"(talking about trip mine if you didn't know what i was talking about) also the trip mine used to be fun as last minute suicide bombing but now it only kills you(most of the time some times i come out with shield down) and let the vehicle leave heavily damage or destroyed if it was already heavily damage.

I didnt even play the beta and I think its better, Faster carbine, Tripmine is better for last minute blowin up those bitches that ran you over, BR shots would actually hit, melee wasnt fuxed (I think) It didnt seem to depend as much on melee, More Highground Gameplay, I think the spartans looked cooler, and had cooler shaders, instead of the boring ones that look like they where copied from h2, etc etc.

I rather the Melee system now. Its much better to get both killed than to get unfairly killed.
