View Full Version : Mouse locking up?

I own this shitty laser mouse that came with a computer we got 4 years ago, and recently it's started locking up. Not moving, and if I were holding a button down at time of said locking up, it would assume the button is pressed down until it decides to stop acting retarded.

Is there anything I can do, or should I just go and buy a new mouse?

Buy a new mouse. They're cheap.

I recommend Logitech. They are quite sensitive, yet glide just right to allow precise and quick movement. Also, mine has browser forward/back and quick-switch program selection buttons on it.

When is this happening to you? That sort of thing happens to me on TF2 every once in a while for no apparent reason, but not at other times.

Could be a damaged cable connection. In my mouse, due to 8 years of straining and tugging, some of the wires within the cable actually wore out and pulled away from the mouse, which caused it to lock up unless I bent the cable directly at the part where it connects to the mouse (in reality, it actually pushed the worn wires back into the mouse to complete the circuit). But eventually, this stopped working (more wires started to pull themselves out) so I bought a new one.

Unless you want some super-precise overpriced $40 mouse, you can easily get a new one for $5

Despite all your bitching over super precise $40 mice, they do make a difference for fast paced FPS's. I've got one of those overpriced $40 mice, and I would never think about going back to a regular one.

I’m not really bitching about them. If you’re a serious gamer who attends tournaments, then of course your mouse should be precise down to the nearest micrometer. But many of us aren’t that hardcore. Most of us play for fun, not for prizes. In this case, an ordinary mouse is adequate as long as your hand feels comfortable (some mice are really shit for doing anything at all due to bad shaping) holding it.

Anyway, the wires within the cable disconnecting likely caused your problem. How long have you owned this mouse?

You would be surprised as to how awesome it is to move a mouse and know that it's goinbg exactly where you want it to.
It makes me happy, content and so you have more fun.

it Cost me $100 for it and it's worth every cent.
