Internet Connection Problems.

So most of you know that I have one of the slowest internet connections ever. I thought I had 512 kbps. Since my phone cord was destroyed, and I didn't realize it, I called up AT&T expecting something to be wrong with my modem. They never really helped me, and I had to solve it myself, but I asked them how fast my internet is. They told me that I'm paying for 1.5 mbps download rate and 212 kpbs upload rate. WTF. I don't get nearly enough as that. I get 133-166 ping in most servers and when I download files from halomaps, filefront, download.com, and anyother website, I only get 125 kbps. When I upload using smartftp, I get 25 kbps. I called them up, and they want to fucking charge me to tell me whats wrong. So I'm posting here, so that maybe one of you can tell me how to fix this, so that I stop lagging every fucking place.

Aehm..there are KiloBytes per second and KiloBits per second. The companies usually advertise with KiloBits because the number is higher.

If you have 212 KiloBits per second upload rate you have 26.5 KiloBytes per second upload rate (just divide by 8...8 bits = 1 byte)...and you said 25...that almost perfectly matches.

Summarized...company displays the connection in KiloBits you see it almost always as KiloBytes on your computer when uploading/downloading.

Also, I only get 50Kilobytes down and 10KiloBytes up and I pay twice as much you do I'm pretty sure.

I thought about that, and I made sure to ask her. She definatly said kilobytes.

BTW, ping, is not always concerned with your speed.

Do you get that high of a ping in servers that you KNOW are close to you?

talk to dano he's getting half of what your getting and i bet he's paying more.
1.5 mbps is the Fastest i can get.

Also open up a can of whoopass on them. I mean no holds back Abuse over hte fucking phone, or down face to face with them.
Bring a camera for lulz.
then upload the video on your new fast connection for us to see at modacity.
There is no logic or reasonable way to talk to these people, If you do your just another target to be exploited. Or Give them the one fingered salute and go to another ISP.

Bodzilla is right. My ISP sucks too. It's fast when it's working, but sometimes it won't work for a couple days.
I had to retry the test 4 times to get it to load.
