At that point the logo wouldn't be so simple (which is an issue with the size constraints). Plus, a throwing magic reference in there just seems...out of place. If anything besides a jar and actual sauce were to be added, it would have to be code related, as that's what the name is a play on, open source.
Indeed the size and detail would be an issue there.

By threads I assume you mean the lips inside a cap that are used to grip the jar.
I'll make a few versions tomorrow. I agree lid doesn't look like a lid, colours are off too, me and colour choosing do not go well.

It would be nice if whatever logo comes out of this would also nicely suit the installer images (and maybe the icon but thats more restrictive in its size):
Personally I think clean, vector art in shades of grey would look quite smart.
