I think those are maximum capacities.. and since your modem is probably not running at 54 mbps I don't think it holds much significance.

Back to the topic though, I think Vista is the problem. Check out my thread here: http://www.h2vista.net/forums/showth...ultiplayer+lag
I figured out the rather inelegant solution to my problem on the second page of the thread, because my computer is too far away from the router to run a cable (it's two floors up).

Idk if redsteven's post helped or not, but in case it didn't, below is the solution to your problem, which I think is the same as to what I have experienced before.

You have to disable WLAN Autoconfig in 'Services'. A little nostalgic to anyone? It's the same thing as Wireless Zero Configuration in Windows XP, except when you disable it from 'Services', your internet connection is cut off completely.

So go into 'Start' and search for 'cmd'. Right click the program and click 'Run as Administrator'. Type the following followed by 'Enter':
    1. netsh
    2. wlan
    3. set autoconfig enabled=no interface="*"

Then you should have a stable online gaming experience. If you ever need Vista to repair your internet connection and whatnot, just do the same as above, except instead of 'no', replace it with 'yes'.

hm.... interesting. I'll try that out this weekend. Maybe I won't need two computers just to play halo 2 online anymore

I wonder if that's similar to what the "vista anti lag" program does, cause... that one didn't work for me
