I'll be watching it at Alamo Drafthouse this Sunday with some friends, and will try to keep the alcohol consumption to a minimum in order to properly evaluate the movie.
I plan to judge it not as a Jones film, but just as a plain old movie; I don't expect this to have the impact of the original trilogy. But if it's better than the swamp of bad romance/comedies that plauge the industry, I'll be happy enough.
(Seriously, Iron Man was the best movie this year; and that's just sad.)

this.
Also, I liked the movie a lot. The plot was for the most part predictable, but it was 100% Harrison Ford. The new side kick character wasn't so bad either.

I prefer not to let studios cock slap me with rehashes of old trilogies, so I probably won't be watching this.

Just got back from seeing it. was better than i expected, but could have been much better. Still i enjoyed it. The plot just didn't feel like an Indy movie to me. The beginning was pretty bad i must say, THE SKY WAS MADE OUT OF CARDBOARD. but it got better as the story continued to unravel, and Shia Labeouf came in. The special effects were pretty cool though, it was entertaining.

what are you talking about? it felt very indiana jones. One of the best in my opinion. It used the fact that he's old, in the first scene you could tell he's an old guy, it goes to the professor thing, he's old--but then it really does a good job of introducing you to some really great action later on.

This. I got the feeling that he was right about that age where hes starting to slow down, but hes still got that two-fisted attitude and the grit to back it up.

I enjoyed it, and I thought it was good, but,
Omfg aliens? I mean, come on. Wtf. That's just... I mean...
well it's just fucking lame. The ark of the covenant? Awesome. The Holy grail? Brilliant. (That one thing from the temple of doom? eh, not so much) But I mean, aliens? come the fuck on.
Still better than Temple of Doom, and pretty good, but naturally, not as good as the original. That's just how it works. ;D
oh, and also,
LOL nuke. Confirming once again that Indiana Jones is completely indefuckingstructible.

Since some people seemed to disagree with me on this, I was talking about what Rob mentioned, you know:
The Aliens, i mean wtf?
other than that it was the Indy I'd expect. and i thought it was pretty good.

Eugh. 'Kay, now that I'm a bit more presentable, here's my take.
My overall opinion is (as paraphrased from one reviewer): "It's good, and sometimes it's really good, but I really hope they don't make another."
While it's probably the weakest of the series, it's by no means a bad movie. I just seriously think that they better quit while they're ahead before the plotline and characters get any more ridiculous. I also thought the kid and the moustached sidekick were unnecessary; They tried something similar in the Last Crusade, and it was just as cheesy.
And what the hell is with the aliens? I was quite literally facepalming when they revealed that. George Lucas needs to retire; his screenplays are now restricted entirely to crappy sci-fi.
My only real concern is that they'll try to revive Jones again in a couple of years with the new kid as the protagonist, but if that's avoided, this is a great way to end the series.
Oh, the nuke scene was just ridiculous enough to be totally awesome. Note to self: when WWIII starts, buy a lead-lined refridgerator and hide in it.

I saw the movie yesterday, was very impressed with it. Although I REALLY wish I hadn't read that spoiler before I went... In a way I'm glad I've never seen one of the Indiana Jones movies all the way though, that way I could judge this as a movie, not revival abandoning it's old charm. (although must people say that isn't the case, except for the thing in the spoiler) The ***spoiler*** was pretty cheesy though, but it's excusable.
And oh yah, Harrison Ford is awesome.

I really wish it hadn't been aliens though. Indiana Jones was never realistic, but it was always fairly down to earth... Lucas can't keep away from space. Thats all he has.

Allow me to sum it up:
Mr. LeBuff screams: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
Robots fight, the military gets portrayed as super-awesome, and Megatron gets dumped in the ocean and left for dead, because that's clearly what we should be doing with that kind of tech. Oh, and Starscream flies away mid-credits. Not a good story behind it, but fun to watch.

Henry Jones Jr, or Henry Jones II. I think that's the implication, as his father would be Henry Jones Sr, or Henry Jones I. So wait, LaBeef was his son?
.... NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
Corndogman

Shia Lebeouf was the 3rd Jones. Indy is henry II and his dad is Sr.
Apoc4lypse
May 28th, 2008, 07:12 PM
actually I believe in the third movie he's called henry at one point, I forget though, I watched it recently too, I do remember him being called something, then wanting to be called something else... but I think...
er n/m, I think it was, his dad calls him junior and he goes "its Indiana" then his dad goes "that was the dogs name", or something like that, for some reason I thought there was something about the name henry in there too, haven't seen the new movie yet tho... and I heard it was terrible from my friend whos like, Indiana Jones is a god to him... I also heard the part thats in those spoiler tags was done very crappily, I mean if there going to actually leap that far from the originals the least they could do is make it look remotely good...
someone said earlier I think its like a cruddier version of The (TOD) Temple of Doom (although I really liked this one I see where there coming from) I mean come on, human sacrifices and weird potions turning people into zombie slave type people (referring to TOD). That comment plus the spoiler sums up the movie then...
Originally wanted to see this, but I'm not sure I'm gonna get around to it now, probably end up renting it a year from now.

Well thats probably why he thought it was so bad. he was expecting it to be like the originals. if you judge it as an Indy movie the yes you'll probably think its bad. but look at it as its own movie its an average movie, but I think its still worth the money for a few hours of entertainment.

Aliens IDB's,
Henry the 3rd Learning to Tarzan from Monkeys,
Sword Fight across Cars,
Ant Swarm.....
Best part was the blowdart thing
And yeah, I noticed the Janitor.....I lol'd....he can't be a serious actor...
The kid's not the new Michael J. Fox....we called him the new Will Smith...
