Your melee is quick and lacks impact. The grenade throw shows the hand go right through the gun. Frankly I would completely redo the origin, and next time you should upload a complete set of animations.

I think the first part of the melee should be slower, like hes putting more force into it, not just poking it into someones chest. then he should bring it back faster, because if it were me id want to bring my gun back as fast as i can so i can keep shooting.
I'm no animator, but thats just my opinion.

Nein.
Your animations are too "smooth," with little natural recoil. Try miming the intended motions yourself and try to replicate that.
If you're trying to have the exact same animations as Halo 3, find a video of the animations (or make one yourself) and play both the Halo 3 anims and yours simultaneously. If you're adding a little artistic license, then:

Good luck.

As I was saying before, perhaps imagining the gun in your actual hands and trying animating as a reference of that. The animations may look much nicer. Works for me.

Keep in mind that getting a perfect halo 3 origin is pointless in halo ce. If you do, the rifle will not aim at the reticle, and it will not look good. Some people don't care about that, but I find that it throws me off in game. I would also suggest using textures on both the hands and the gun while animating. It makes it easier to spot clipping, or unnatural deformations of the fingers.

Try holding a 2x4 (wood block) in your hands and moving that around like a gun. Something shaped similarily to an AR with that weight would be ideal.

Melee is too slow to return to normal. The hand during the nade throw is really messed up; you can do better. Also, if you're using IK you should be able to make the hands move with the gun more and not just sit there. Also, what everyone else said.

You should practice your constraining a bit. I usually constrain right wrist controller to frame gun, and left wrist controller to something else. For a gun like the assault rifle, it is often wise to constrain left wrist controller to frame magazine, making the reload a lot easier.

One thing I've noticed is that all the custom anims that I've seen try only to execute the action, as in, if the hands move to the right places, and it would work in real life, the animation is fine. It's always so plain and it looks unnatural. Try to add some flare or style to the animation. And always make sure everything is always moving at the same time. Objects in FP animations should almost never be standing still.

how is it that people forget that spartan's don't need to know the meaning of the word recoil because there suit is designed to counteract most of it... so there fore there wouldn't be much natural recoil anyway... lolz

Unless you want the animations to look shitty and robotic, stfu.

When I animate I tend to ignore excuses like that because it makes the animation look bad. It doesn't matter how strong a spartan is in theory, it will still look unnatural.

I agree, the amount of recoil shown in the game doesn't make sense for a spartan holding the weapon, but natural movement is key.

Lol, but a 9 foot tall cyborg that could break your ribs as fast as you could sneeze is so natural.
Regardless, it is a good Idea to avoid those kinds of things. Besides....halo is full of inconsistencies. MC can flip a tank with both hands still on his gun, but he cant DBZ punch a hole through his enemies.

Like everybody else has been saying, your animations are WAY too fucking smooth, and I'm never saying that I don't do it, but it is something that needs to be fixed. Also, redo the origins, getting a Halo 3 Origin, unless you want him to look like he's shooting his foot, looks retarded, but everybody has to start somewhere. Keep listening to criticism people give you and fix it and you'll get better over time.

If the MC's trained from the time he was 6 to the time he was 16, shouldn't his movements be smooth and reflexive by now? If you read the books, the only time he ever loses his cool is his first encounter with the Flood. I mean, I spent 4 months with an AR-15 last summer and by school time I thought I could operate it very smoothly. With 10 years, he could probably even melee pretty smoothly.

This has already been discussed for the last 10 posts, it just doesn't look good that way.
