Whenever I finish my map and go to pacage it, it works. When I check to make sure that it is in the correct file...it is
C:\Documents\My Games\Halo 2\Maps however when i start halo 2 vista and switch over to custom maps and go to the bottom it does not appear there, and i have no idea why. So how do I get my map to actually be playable?

You may wanna give the map a name, the name can be different from the filename, otherwise it'll just show up as 'default halo 2 map' or something like that. If even that doesn't show up you may wanna check if your map would be playable, it needs spawnpoints for example.

A couple other things you may want to check.

Make sure you installed the last halo 2 v update after you installed the editor. If not just reinstall the update. Not live update, the game update.

Did you modify any vehicles or scenery? That could make it not load.

Try removing all scenery and see if it works because a couple scenery objects don't work correctly and won't let the map load. Maybe because "unused" checked in the bitmap?, i don't know.

And like Vicky said, make sure your map is playable. When you hit save no errors should show up. you atleast need spawn points.

Oh you may want to delete the old map file before recompiling from the h2Ek directory and your "my documents" directory because if you have an error compiling it'll just copy the pre-compiled map from the h2ek dir. and you may not see the error when packaging.

no it compiled and packaged correctly and the .map file is in the correct spot and it has a name but it does not appear in the game settings on h2v.

That narrows it down a little bit. Check out the red highlited statements i previously stated. First one is a question. 2nd is a way to see if the first question is your problem. the last red statement is a must do. I packaged many maps and had many problems.

Forgot i might want to ask the most basic of questions also. DID YOU CONNECT THE B_levelroot correctly?

Oh and edit instead of double posting. that's a good way to get flamed here.

I didnt edit any tags i just used the default ones that bungie included with sapien. i watched a tutorial so i did connect the b_levelroot correctly ill try remmoving all scenery and wepon and vehicles and all but spawn point tags to see if it helps.

There are a couple stock tags that i know of that will make the game not load.
