So iamchris4life finally did it (http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=59752) and I'm still failing halfway through ;_;
The game is Guitar Hero 3, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about.

My bro and I made it through, and that was good enough for me. Perfection? What's the point?
Also, might just be me, but, major audio lag!

It's a bot. Notice how he uses star power without even moving the guitar.
EDIT: Ah never mind, I still think it's a bot.

The notes seem too far apart. Looks like he's using hyper speed, which is lame as hell. That's not all that special if he can FC it with a cheat.
Jelly

Hyper speed isn't considered a cheat; it doesn't make notes any easier to hit.

I play better with hyperspeed on, thats why I find it lame.

Uhh, how is it that he can use both hands on the "frets" and not get penalized for not using the clicky thing. It's got to be that cheat thing you can install to the guitar.

Bots arent easy to come by, they are hardware bots, hard to make...
Would have liked to see him strumming, isnt hyperspeed just faster?
Also, you can press select for star power, no need to tilt guitar as that can put you off.
I'm happy knowing I can do this song on easy

Bah, I can't move my right arm quickly enough to do that. That's why I prefer the Rock Band guitar. (PC version and XPadder)
Currently average about 75% on expert, would be nice if it would improve...

Video is lame, awkward audio lag, with bkg music etc. kinda sucks.
Also, why do you guys think it's a bot so much? This guys life is GH, he's #1 on hella leaderboardage.
Besides, I can 83% the song and I never really practiced THAT much..
EDIT: 83% as in get 83% through the song, XD.

It's not at all like that, in any way possible. Why just waste your time playing some game when you could actually play the real thing? Sure it takes practice and shit but if you have enough time to be able to pass TTFAF on expert then you have enough time to learn it on real guitar I'm sure. On the other hand the FPS pretty much is a real murder simulator (/jack thompson), as opposed to you just said which is guitar hero is not a guitar simulator.

Why should he learn the real guitar when he's already got legions of fans, a sponsorship and a world record?
Xetsuei
June 5th, 2008, 06:49 PM
What the hell? People get sponsored to play guitar hero? That's ridiculous, show me the world record. And yes, he still should learn real guitar.
By the way, I still think he was using a bot.

Something does seem off. I wonder how he's strumming the strum bar on those sections where it's the same note a bunch of times without the guitar moving, or making the strum bar click.

As far as I can tell, the bass of the TV is overpowering the strumming sounds. You can still hear them a bit in Post Insanity. He also anticipates notes; traditional bots use note layouts extracted from the game and don't hold notes before they come along.

^ Proof it isnt a bot.
Now, why dont people play real guitar instead of guitar hero? Well, I wish I started to play guitar years ago, I could still learn now but still, I dont really have the time for it. Whereas GH, I just pick up, have a piss around, I dont care if I completely suck at it, I have a blast, where as on a real guitar, if you suck, you suck theres no way around it.
Another example, you play driving games perhaps, do you question why arent you a real life racing driver instead? No.
Whoever said it, doesnt understand the true meaning of games...Biggest WTF is the wii fit, I can stand on a bit of fucking wood for £1 and get the same amount of fitness.
Even though GH version of TTFATF or however abbriation goes is easier than the real life counterpart, still props to this guy for doing it :).
Even herman cant play the song properly so I doubt any one can play song perfect on real guitar.

People are taking this way to far. I'm sure none of us have enough money to spend on a race car and for all the stuff you need for racing, but a real guitar and amp only cost about as much as the guitar hero game itself. The point is racing is out of reach, real guitar isn't.

The whole point behind the Guitar Hero series was to make the air guitar into something tangible, but you can leave it to most stupid people to misinterpret it as a guitar simulator. :eyesroll:
I can hear the strum bar click on the sections where there's a bunch of normal notes (non HO/PO), but not the sections where it's like 10 green notes in a row. It probably is the camera mic not picking it up over the TV, but I just felt that it was odd.

I'm not calling it a guitar simulator. I'm just saying that if you had enough time to get enough skill on guitar hero to get atleast 90% expert on TTFAF, you could of spent the same amount of time on real guitar learning the real song.

He can just look like he is anticipating it but still be using a bot.
He holds the buttons down before the note shows up, you can see it on the screen. Bots dont do that, they press the button at the exact time the note is ready to be hit.
I could pick guitar up, I just dont want to. I can play this dragonforce song on easy, I picked it up in a day (wasnt perfect though) however playing guitar would have taken me longer, not saying that puts me off, its just a different experience.
I'd rather play drums...Look on youtube.
Herman doesnt play it correctly live, he cuts in and out, doesnt play it all in one bit, because the song is insanely fast they cant play all 7 minutes with no rest.
Weirdest thing I thought, when they play it live (which sucks btw) they play it too fast compared to studio version, I wish they'd just slow it down a bit and calm down.
I'm seeing them in september though, gonna be good, new album stuff too :)

Uh, no you cant make a bot antictape. Hes playing on a console (obviously) so bots are very limited it what they can do. I've only seen one bot, it basically tricked the console into thinking the button was pressed at the same time. Game checks to see if button is pressed, they made it always yes.
Herman and sam arent horrible players, they have some great solo's.

you cant have a great solo without melody, and considering DFail are all about shredding or what ever the guitarists fall short of 99% of all other Guitarists in the industry.

This theoretical bot is too elaborate for Chris. For the time I've known about him, he's not demonstrated any technical prowess above getting a webcam to work. For him to create a bot that is more advanced than any we currently know about is probably less likely than him FC'ing TTFATF.

Yes, but SOME people here think that just because they're good at Guitar Hero, it means that they're actually good at playing instruments. Or that they are somehow musically inclined, really they're just good at pushing buttons.

What? The only people who draw parallels between Guitar Hero and the real thing are guitarists.Yeah, it's funny, actually. Real guitarists think that people who are good at Guitar Hero think that they're good with a real guitar, when I'd think that most GH players know the difference.
Take Jordan for example; on Guitar Hero, you're strumming and HO/PO-ing each note, when in real life, Buckethead uses a killswitch to make the stuttering sound. There's even a video I've seen of Buckethead attempting to play Jordan on Hard and not doing so hot; like Slash once said in an interview, Guitar Hero does have the feel, but it's an entirely different ballgame.
