Have you tried restarting your computer since you installed it? Or, failing that, reinstalling the games?

Do you have a router that needs port forwarding? I doubt that's the problem since it was just a HDD wipe, but you never can be sure.

If it needs port forwarding for something like joining a multiplayer game, then he'd still have to set the static IP. I doubt it's the problem as port forwarding is there to determine where incoming traffic goes.

i am running xp and i have restarted at least several times. Also i never needed port forwarding before so i dont think that is the problem.

EDIT: i have a video of what happens when i try to start multiplayer here: http://divxvine.com/axsj4zw5hu00/halo_multiplayer_error.divx.html
if you want one for Swars BF to tell me and i can make one. I also forgot to say that both games use GameSpy and i have it installed.

one of my friends suggested i try using the halo trial to see if i get a similiar error. I do. so i am assuming that its not something to do with the installation, but rather with something in my settings. But my firewall is set to allow both Halo and Swars BF so i still dont know what to do.

Have you updated Halo to V1.07 and Star Wars Battle Front to the latest patch?

Do you have Direct X installed?

Halo wouldn't even get that far without DirectX 9 being installed. %-)

Try running the game as an administrator?
