Even if Mars was teraformed, the reason the planet lost it's atmosphere was because it's magnetic shield died off.
The problem is if the planet was teraformed the atmosphere might dissipate as it did before plus the huge amounts of radiation.

Not really no.
If the planets core has cooled to the point of not creating a strong enough magnetosphere then how would terraforming help at all?
Extracting water from the rocks would be easy compared to drilling to the core and reheating the how-ever-many-square-miles of metallic core.
