im looking to reformat a vaio vgn a190
but all i have is a windows xp cd
i don't have any of the stuff that came with the laptop, no manual, no recovery cd etc
i don't need any of the data or programs in the laptop and i'd rather have a clean slate to work with
is it possible to find all the specific drivers for it?

That looks like it would work for you. Try and pick and choose what you need and what is extra fluff. I did that when I reformatted my laptop, and I'm without the annoying Dell Support Center, and have all the necessary drivers. Also, get video card drivers from ATI/Nvidia itself. (or even Intel)

The best way to do it would be to slipstream the laptop drivers into a custom XP disc. That way it automatically installs the correct drivers for wireless and graphics. Use nLite to remove crap you don't use, etc.
The main reason I do it is because I can make it do the install unattended. You can also add SP3 directly into the disc, because they don't have SP3 discs yet.
So yeah slipstream the drivers into an install disc along with SP3 and your ready to go. You can do more stuff if you want, just make sure you know what your doing .

Sp3 Disc.. ;\
And I like the idea of integrating everything into the install. I might do that for an XP disc.
