I've finally decided to get an Xbox360 and Halo 3, and I'm wondering which model I should get, as well as which accessories. I've got my lol-huge TV set up under my air conditioning window unit, and have enough room for the console to stand with its ventilation unobstructed, and my large overstuffed chair is positioned directly in front of it, not on the other side of my bedroom.
So, which Xbox360 model should I get?
Which accessories are necessary? Which ones are the most durable?
Is Halo 3 Legendary Edition worth it, or should I just get the standard package?

Legendary kicks ass, but that's only because I'm a fanboy
And get the regular XBox... I've never used up all the space on the hard drive.
But if you can get your hands on the dev kit or some shit LOL >:O

Yeah get the premium. No need to get the elite really.
Might want to get the HDMI cable so you can use it properly on your tv.

Or, if you wanna save some cash grab the core (do they even sell this anymore?) or "arcade" edition and just buy a 20 GB HDD separately on ebay (last I checked they were around $20)

I got the standard one, just because I want to be able to immediately plug & play & forge, as well as play my copy of Halo 2. I own H2 and the map pack in disc form, yet don't even own an original Xbox - odd, eh?

I got the elite only because I am not a failure :D
j/k
its not really necessary, but with the ammount of Arcade games and Xbox originals that I buy I need it. And the black is oh so beautiful.

I got the elite because we have a 50 something inch plasma, although I'm not allowed to play on it anyways, so theres no point to even have it. Unless i can convince my parents to let me have the new 40 in vizio once we get the plasma fixed.

Raised the way I was if I wanted a black 360 I'd spray-paint my white one.
I don't like literally paying for pretty much nothing but marketing.

I'm with you on that. At the Kmart near my house, "elite" 360 controllers are 69$ while "premium" are 49$. Whats the difference? Paint job. Go with the premium, You'd have to be a serious gamer to need the extra space anyways.

b..b...but black is so beautiful!!! :eyesroll:
I've been contemplating picking up one as well. I still haven't played through h3 (only first halves of of S117, Crows Nest, and some multiplayer), and I REALLY EFFIN WANT TO. But I'm not a huge gamer..I'd only want H3, GTAIV, Forza (3?), maybe Armored Core, and Ace Combat 6. I'm heading off to college pretty soon with a killer workload ahead of me..don't think I'll really be able to play anything. so it's basically ~$400 just to play two months of H3, MAYBE something else.
And I still love black.

Wait...I thought the that the premium doesn't support HDMI ? Or has Microsoft changed it without me knowing :( ?
E: Nevermind, I guess I bought my 360 a bit earlier :\

He was addressing the HDMI as an accessory.
And about the controllers being more expensive...thats bunk because here its the same price.
Also.....I have noticed a problem with white 360's with not being able to have two mics on two white controllers at the same time. Like.....you can only have one white one with a mic and the rest would have to be black....am I alone here?
For me money is not an issue and I wanted the black over the white. The Halo one was just disgusting. Thats why I got it.

Umm your best way is the "Arcade" version why? because It have the latest chipset, and It will not have overheat problems, because premium edition, halo 3 edition, and Elite edition, are still having overheating problems.

Your best bet is the arcade version. This is because it has the latest chipset, and it will not have overheating problems like the premium, halo 3, or elite edition. FTFY
Please stop posting false things about the systems. The arcade version's internals are exactly the same from their other counterparts (well depending on when it was made, but still), there is no difference in overheating. And it does have the latest chipset, but so do all the other ones.
Personally, I'd go with the premium which is what I've had now. Hard drive space is a little bit of an issue since I like downloading lots of demos or game extension packs. If you need the bigger hard drive, and I really mean need it get the elite. But the premium would be your best choice. Don't even bother with arcade or H3 edition.

A little bit offtopic, but corndogman, I think your parents(?) wont let you play on the plasma TV because the game's HUD can leave marks to the TV...

Yea, if one image stays on the screen for a long time it starts to "burn in" to the screen. Its broken now anyways so i don't think it would have mattered.

My parents are tech stupid so I have to help them with everything down to the tv, but when I wanna use it, all hell breaks loose. Its ok....I have the only comp in the house and fuck the bills if I dont get to use the 72 inch.
