White lines :|

Well, Ive had my laptop for about 6 months now, but a couple of days ago these white lines appeared at the top of my screen.

(Its not the graphics card causing the problem, its definitely the LCD, as the lines do not show up in pictures, or on my second monitor)

I found this on yahoo answers, and it accurately describes my problem.

My laptop is still under warranty, but I havent really been able to get in touch with them to find out if theres a repair depot somewhere in Ottawa :/

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody may know either a method of getting rid of them, or if I should live with them until I get a chance to go get them repaired.

No, I don't think duct/duck tape can solve this one...

How bad is it? Can you get pics?

Its two lines of varying hues of white and light blue across the top of my screen, but I cant really get pics since according to the graphics card, theyre not actually there. Its not terrible, I can still use the thing, but It just really bothers me :|

Its really down to, is there anything I can do to make them go away on my own, or do I use my other monitor until I can get it repaired.

Additionally, when i apply pressure to the screen, the line changes and/or disappears momentarily.

It did, but not anymore.

But it wasnt from squeezing the screen, they only went away after tilting the screen around for a few minutes, and then they just came back :(

Probably out of your skill to fix it with anything. When desktop LCDs get those lines you return them under warranty, so you should look into that (more, lol).

Yeah Im going to, I cant really do much right now, since it was bought under my dads name, and he has the receipt to prove the date of purchase etc etc. So yeah, I guess Ill have to live with it for a few weeks, Ill just use my external LCD until then.

I dont think that would work out too well, theyre not big enough for any camera I have to pick up :\

Do the lines stretch across the whole screen or just in little segments??

Yeah I would trade it in for a new screen. If it was only like a small segment I wouldn't have spent the money. Fuck the economy. Hope it works out for you.
