The title of the topic says everything and other thing, and my weak point, specular masks, how can I apply it to a shader?

I don't believe animated crosshairs are supported by the engine, atleast, that is what I was told a long time ago.

I THINK it might be possible, for one reason only, with a sniper, when you pass your reticle over an enemy, it tells you height and distance and the numbers constantly change. So why not instead of making it numbers in a corner, move it up to center and make it a crosshair? Its in the scope and zoom function.

I thought it was possible.

How do you want it "animated"?

I know one way to do it is make it part of the view model that moves when you fire... otherwise ask CAD

You could place a plane (in 3ds max) at the position of the cross hair (where it would be in game) and have that attached to whatever fp model you are using, and animate it in the fp anims. Then, make a texture and give it an alpha too, and apply a shader with that texture to the plane. That should give you your animated cross hair.

I do not know how but there is a way to animate it in a certain, like have a bar charge up. IIRC admiral bacon should know how to do that. other then something simple like that it's not possible. However you can do what flying rooster is referring to where the part of the hud you want animated is physically a part of the weapon model and you animate it in 3ds max.

Ask CMT. If you watch their video for SPv2 you see that the Splazer reticle is animated.

Leet made that; so, as Pooky said, ask him.

That was using meters

Didn't CMT's AR in SPv1 have an animated crosshair? I'd bug them if you wanted to find out for sure.

It wasnt animated, it had two different bitmaps, one for normal and one for when it turns red, though it isn't that hard to set it up.

I was also wondering if it would be possible to make a ammo counter in the scope zoom, like in halo 3.

I think that is impossible, as there is no flag to check to make it show up in the zoom view.
