I'm trying to find a nice, minimalistic theme to replace royale, but I can't seem to find anything... Suggestions, anyone?
And yes, I have quick launch menu and a dock, because I still use it more than the dock, which has other programs that I use less often in it.

Well, I know of an explorer shell replacement called SharpE. It doesn't consume as much of your resources as windows explorer and has a lot more features.

I use Glearlooks Gummy (http://random.ogunderground.com/workstation/anytime/work.png) on all of my Windows machines, it's a damn good recreation of the old Clearlooks GTK+ theme. It's smaller than Luna/Royale and I've actually noticed a speed increase while using it. I'll go find the link if you're interested.

To be frankly honest, if I cared about my desktop, I wouldn't have windows classic as my theme. The games on my desktop, are the ones I play more frequently. The rest of the games are under "start".

I think that depends on what version of the skin you have, and what program you use, I remember I had a version that had all the icons as well, so it looked exactly like Vista.

Then go to wincustomize.com to find IconPackager Skins, lots of capabilities. Theres also Permanent EXE installers if you look on google that change the icons around.

GIMME GIMME GIMME. I loved the beast transformers series and quite hated the ones where they're always cars. There's more mystery to the story with what planet they're on (Beasties), how they're going to get back to Cybertron (Beast Wars), and what are they gonna find when they get there (Beast Machines). Cell shaded graphics and explosions from Beast Machines just branded itself permanently in my heart as my most favourite TV show ever. After that comes Beast Wars and Beasties. And then we have the IT crowd :lmao: and Arrested Development :lol:.

This, my friend, is the same low-life PC I used with my Windows 2000 pictures. I recently downloaded the 32-bit version of Ubuntu Linux 8.04 (I had the 64-bit, but this computer can't run that one), and tweaked it.

Installing stuff on a Linux machine is SO much simpler than in Windows, once you get teh hang of it... :).

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.4GHz
768MB DDR333 RAM
GeForce FX5900XT 128MB
60GB Maxtor HDD 5400RPM

Most popular distribution currently. And if you install WINE, there are quite a few games you can run, including Half-Life 2 and the like. If you are going to do that, then I'd get the 32-bit version of any Linux distribution, as the 64-bit versions are almost always completely 64-bit, and do not contain the 32-bit libraries. You'd have to find and compile them yourself, which is not for newbies.

You can release control and alt and hold the mouse in place while you press print screen. It produces much cleaner screen shots. The other option is to use a tool like scrot with a delay...

Get yourself some caps on that cube! (and please use the separate "Cube Caps" plugin should you choose to use caps, as you'll then be using some code (about 10 lines) that I wrote, assuming you're on 8.04)

All right, what the fuck, photobucket. Just last time I used it, I had it set to NOT reduce my images at all from my standard 1600x1200 resolution, and now it has not only reverted to a different setting, but it won't even let me use that resolution. "Distributions", and open-source doesn't always mean free of charge. Plenty of people and companies make money off of open source, and there are quite a few paid-for distros out there (SUSE Enterprise, for example). You're mostly paying for professional support, though, as most of the enterprise distros have a free, community-supported counterpart (SE has openSUSE, for example).

Happy to say I'm finally wiping Windows from one of my family's machines. Should be a lot of fun. Also putting FreeBSD on my spare-parts machine I'm taking home from work tomorrow night (it refuses to run a Linux kernel, so off to the next option for which my only open-source affilition lies (Compiz)) Don't worry Windows-lovers, I'm dual booting it. It has some things even I can't go without at the moment.

Anime is great, some really good things in it, i love it much more then conventional cartoons, there funnier and seem to have much better story lines, well...the ones i've watched anyway.

My desktop is messy right now and i cba to tidy it, but it IS still Wall-e for me, might change to an awesome dual screen sci-fi desktop for my screens again though.
Any recommendations...and remember sci-fi everything else is shit fuck lame...EVERYTHING...yes....I'm that shallow and sci-fi loving.... i have a problem :(.

I've never actually watched the anime, I read the manga. The anime actually really isn't at the part where it gets good. I felt like the beginning of the series was a bit corny. Loved the idea of the series though. Although the manga is an ecchi, its not really that titty. Well... compared to this atleast

Rosario + Vampire again, she is one of the cooler female characters I have seen in any anime. She is one of the cooler/cuter characters from that anime.

The reason for the use of ice in those desktops is because she is a Yuki-onna or snow woman.

Meh, I set up my topdesk to function the same way the exposé does on OS X, because I find the feature useful. I use different keyboard shortcuts though, since F11 actually has a function in Windows. (obviously)

(obviously)For some reason it blacks out my windows when it arranges them onscreen, so I'm flipping through a bunch of black rectangles with various white bits strewn around them. Could have something to do with Windowblinds. Also, it refuses to do any function besides the vistaflip style thing, and does that even when I use the hotkeys for other functions. Sometimes the other hotkeys don't even work :/
