I find it ironic that on canada day, scientist discover the world is becoming overall more happy. Youre probably thinking as of now " what the fuck do you mean the world is getting happier?" Well, instead of devoting their time to finding a cure to cancer or solving the problem of toilets not being able to attach to your computer chair, they did a world wide survey to see what are the happiest places on the planet. And in an astounding, life changing conclusion, they found the world is now happier then it was in 1981. Joy.
1. Denmark
2. Puerto Rico
3. Colombia (Who knew?)
4. Iceland
5. Northern Ireland (what the hell is worng with southern ireland? Is this like North and South Korea?)
Then further down the page they posted the least happiest places.
1. Zimbabwe
2. Armenia
3. Moldova
4. Belarus
5. Ukraine ( Only one other then Zimbabwe that Ive even heard of.)
Discuss the happiness of your country, and why or why not you think your country should be in the top five, or one one of these shouldnt.

Canada is a pretty peaceful and happy place. While the Americans build up a national debt from a totally pointless war, the Canadian national debt comes from something as expensive but more useful - our government-sponsored medical care.
The only unhappy thing I see about Canada is the technology - when Thailand's roads have better technology than Canada's roads, you know something's not right. Seriously, the traffic light system looks (and in many cases is) 30+ years old, and at intersections, the turning arrows are not programmed properly or something. To compensate for the serious lack of speed cameras, the law simply sends cops in unmarked cars to hide in the few nooks and crannies on major roads.
Overall, I love Canada as much as all my friends up here do. Canada has always been a happy place.

I wouldn't say Armenia is a very unhappy country. Well, sure the countries in turmoil but my friends go there whenever they can and they say it is awesome.

Im surprised america isnt further down, I dont know how many countries in total they surveyed, but America does have large areas of crime.
Also, Im still wondering over the northern ireland thing. Is it like with the Koreas, one is communist and the other is democracy, except with Ireland one is full of happy drunk poeple and the other has a bunch of mean drunks?

I didn't expect I'd actually find anything in this thread funny.
But there's a sort of great Orwellian humor to this:

Well clearly Colombia's happy. With all that foreign aid they're getting from the United States to fuel their cocaine production, who wouldn't be happy?

Who wouldn't be happy with all that cocaine to start with?
You know, besides pee wee (http://youtube.com/watch?v=z9zFZ1L26aw).

My humor is an odd one that requires that quirky angle to understand. But yes, I can relate to that chart, since I work minmum wage at kroger....
5.85 an hour. But then again Im only 15 and a courtesy clerk (fancy word for bagger, toilet scrubber, cart collecting, basicaly all the jobs no one wants to do) But if I gain up enough money, I can buy up for 3/4 of the car that I want when I get my license. Huh, on an off topic note, I use google as a spell check (shut up), and I wasnt quite sure on the word license, so I typed it in on google, first thing I saw was license to wed... I didnt know you need a license to be able to get married? I wonde rif you have to take a test to get it?
QUESTION #1: WHAT POSISTION DOES YOUR PARTNER LIKE TO BE IN SEXUAL INTERCOURSE?
Neither, your not supposed to have sex to your married, it strengthens the bond between two lovers.
WRONG! BROS BEFORE HOES, YOU GO OUT WITH yOUR HOMIES, LAY OFF THE HATORADE AND TAP WHAT YOU GET AND TAP IT HARD.
Sorry about that, but I still wonder..wonder what you have to do to get a license to marry?

The only really happy people in the US are the dumb ones down south who love all the shit that's going on and don't know jack about what's really happening. You know, the ones who voted Bush?

Oh just a side note, 'license to wed' is a license that the preacher who marries you has to have, not the person getting married.

If you must know, Northern Ireland is the more heavily protestant part of Ireland that remained within the British Empire after the rest of Ireland won independence.
Its existence pisses off the Irish still, and they're still trying to take it back, hence the largest Eurocentric terrorist force in the world,

I lost interest in this subject quite some time ago. the last thing i heard though, was that the IRA officially disbanded its armed branches and now try to accomplish their objectives with exclusivly political means. if i would be right, wouldn't that make them at least au par with the ETA?

Ehhhh, if theyre happy, then leave them be, Southern Ireland should see that if theyre in the top 5 for happiest places on the planet, I wouldnt be too worried about their freedom..unless theyre brainwashed!

The united states is 16th place, I think theres room for canada and england in between 16th and 5th, unless congress voted on to change the numerical count from 1,2,3,4,5,6 to 1,2,3,4,5,16.
