I think it's because everyone is born with subconscious memories of his role in both Bill and Tedd movies xD.

This movies looks cool, although thematically it seems a lot different. That is understandable given the time period the first one was made though.

The original was that the aliens were skeptical about humanity using and having nuclear weaponry. If this doesn't follow a similar plot I'm going to assassinate Mr. Reeves.

Though it was a really stupid way of putting it, I think the point was clear:
- If you do nothing, the Earth will in some way be destroyed and you along with it, but
- If you sacrifice your life in some way not specified in the given clip, you will save the Earth.
