Okay here's the situation.

I have recently been accepted to a post-secondary school for "3D Modeling for Animation and Games" in Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada). Obviously I'll be moving out there later this year so that I can start in late September... We flew over there yesterday to check out accommodations such as apartments and homes renting space, etc, etc. I also have a "friends cousin" living out there who runs an ESL "homestay" program, basically he rents out rooms in his [unimaginably large] home to ESL students from overseas. Now, my parents and I both liked the idea for a few reasons.

Now, to the technical stuff...

In their home they rent out rooms to students, each room comes with internet access, cable TV+a TV and VCR, and a telephone connection. Now interestingly enough, my computer monitor is bigger (and it's wide screen) than the TVs that they provide (obviously they have to be cheap TVs). So I'm just starting to look at a good Video Capture Card/PVR. Basically all I want is the ability to watch and record cable TV on my PC.

So anyone have any good suggestions for watching and recording TV on a PC? I'd like to have the card internal (PCI, none of this USB capture card stuff), it'd be nice to have a remote control as well.

So far I've only really considered this:

That one will do fine, but you may want to find better software to use it with.

Well, I'd be using WMC, since I have Vista Ultimate :).
