i was wondering what is a good average face/poly count for a map. like for the bsp and total with scenery, vehicles and stuff.

a. bsp face/poly count(specify if u going to post for face or poly one or the other is fine)

b. total map face/poly count(^)

i dont really know much about the stuff with scenery, vehicals and stuff but i

a. i believe the total poly count is around 10,000-30,000 polies.

b.probably with vehicals it adds 1,000-10,000 more polies.

dont take me as an answer im just giving estamints.

Don't worry about face counts, all you need to worry about is not wasting faces. If every single face is used effectively, then no one can say your map is bad because it has x amount of faces. Also remember that polygon counts are not representative of actual performance. A face count is what you need, not a polygon count. A single polygon can be made of 2, 3, 14, as many faces as you want.

If you portal it correctly you can go, pretty much, as high as you want.
My map Sola Scriptura(shameless plug) (http://halo2.filefront.com/file/;38162) has more than 70,000 tris, not counting scenery & stuff.
But, it's a very small, indoor level with lots of right angle corridoors and very easy portaling.

The general idea is roughly 10,000 BSP tris at any one time.

Depends on whether your map is indoor or outdoor. Theoretically, with correct portaling, you can have a very high poly map and have it run fine.

i've made outdoor maps with nearly 100,000 tris that ran fine...
