I am looking for something along the Lines of Fruity Loops.

I dont know if thats a good program, I just have a friend that uses it. He is a fucking idiot however and doesn't know a damn thing about anything. My requirements are:

Must be simple.

Thats it.

I can get fruity loops, but I' like to know if there is anything better...

OH MY GOD JUST MY TOPIC!!!
What type of music are you trying to make. I use fruity loops on a regular basis. It's a great program. For a taste here's what I made using it.

I gotta say if you wanna hear breakdowns, pitch changes etc. listen to "Never Again" "Bounce" or "Ain't tha same"

Anyway I've only been at it since september and It's not complicated to learn, actually, easy. If you need help I could give you my IM or xfire or whatever.

A good community that a majority uses FL Studio would be http://www.warbeats.com
They also have free downloadable kits too. If you have the trial version remember you can't save projects but u can still extract to mp3. so I would suggest writing down the sounds if you have to close it, but I usually just kept it open the whole time.

Fruity Loops is probably the best your gonna get to when making music through the PC and not hardware.

Is it anything like garage band? I'd be interested in something like that.

Cakewalk SONAR is great. Look for a copy on Mininova. Comes in Home Studio and Producer, I use Producer. It comes with both simple and advanced things, so if you get bored of the simple stuff, it's pretty easy to expand without getting anything new.

And if you want a pretty good set of sounds, I very highly suggest looking for a copy of Sampletank. Comes with a good 8394082094 sounds that you don't get in SONAR's sound list.

Pooky: Should have mentioned, SONAR has staff and tab functions.
