Homeworld 2
-----------------------------

A very fun an interesting game, Homeworld 2 is old yet looks very new. The new 'space' RTS game, Sins of a Solar Empire, isn't nearly as combat fun as Homeworld 2 nor does it have the beauty or animations. Homeworld 2 is a one of a kind, really unheard of game if you will, if more people heard of this it would probably boost in market sales by far!

Flying rooster and I have decided to play it, I already have it and convinced him to get it. Of course in legal terms the game is not free, purchasable online but I don't know much about if it's still in-stock. In some game stores it is, but in most big stores such as Wal Mart or BestBuy it probably won't be on the shelves. Not many people know about it, thats why.

The UI of the game isn't all that beautiful, but it's made up by the gameplay. The UI is simple and easy to navigate through, but may be confusing to the ones not used to it. For it's age it has pretty beautiful graphics, animations and gameplayability. It could really use a spruce up. There are a couple of mods for this game, yet the community that plays it isn't all that big. It would be a very popular game if advertising was higher. One could say its like EVE Online in RTS form.

I really love this game, and it'd be awesome if other people actually played it. It's probably not much out of your wallet, but definetly worth it if you enjoy good RTS games.

Check out the links for more info. :)
Would be a lot more fun if people played it. Private message me for more info, or send me an IM (AIM: radiogerman1011; MSN: footballbud24@yahoo.com).

No means of advertisement were intended, only purpose was to inform not advertise. Clearly this post does not contain any advertisement material. All this game needs is a brighter, bolder and bigger community.

Maybe even more fun if more people play it, of course. ;)

Hey Silent, we'll have to play again one of these days, i have it installed again so yea, we haven't had a game for like year or something.

Oh and your comment about Sins...tut tut tut!

Sins is a great game, but for me both games are in completely different and in different worlds to each other.

Homeworld 2 is much faster and has a different play style to most RTS games.
Sins of a Solar Empire is alot slower and larger and to me seems to play more like a usual RTS but with elements 'borrowed' from the Homeworld series.

I wish they'd make games like this that were for large scale real time space combat with individuals piloting each ship, rather than an RTS :(

I hate RTSes... and that's what maddens me about this - it looks so incredibly awesome, but I know I can't find it fun because it's the wrong goddamn genre

It's a really old game called Freelancer, or the MMORPG version is EVE Online. Same problem with HW2 though, freelancer isn't played by a lot of people.

EDIT: Matt, get on AIM or MSN. :-3

This game is epic. Someone did a very good Gundam mod on this engine.

I only ever played the first Homeworld and Cataclysm, both were fun. Does this one still play the same?

It's all about EVE Online for me. That or Freespace 2. Only good space games...

Freespace 2 is full of so much fucking win. I've played the campaign so many times now it's rediculous. And it has this mod. (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2256991675965772401&q=Freespace+2&ei=tX6YSOPyN4je4AKfqaiVBQ)

Freelancer had great story... Missles and Rockets don't sync very well online though, that made me sad...

I play the BSG mod for that game now.

I love the Vagyr battlecruiser, because it's essentially a UNSC cruiser.

Have a copy (bought on recomendation by this thread), makes my head hurt to try and micro and control a 3D battle with fighters and corvettes and all the bigger stuff http://sae.tweek.us/static/images/emoticons/emot-psypop.gif

Group assignment. It's rather easy.

I've had 4 battle cruiser, 8 destroyers, 12 frigates, 8 gunship groups and about 15 fighter squadrons all working at the same time. Group assignment.

Oh and I had 2 carriers supporting from the back of the battle constantly restocking my fighters and frigates.

Bump.

Anyone still play this? Been doing a lot of instant action lately seeing as I can't get online.
