Help with Edges.

In my map ive been working on, there is this one part of the map that has some errors im trying to fix. When I go to delete the faces, for some reason it creates an Edge and attaches it to some other Vertex in the map. I can't delete the edge, so i go back. I've tried a lot of things, but it makes some more edges that I can't delete. Can someone help me out here??
