So yeah, I was in the gym this morning because I'm paid to do so and they had CNN on the TV for once instead of fucking FOX. The news ticker at the bottom had a bullet about the US death toll in iraq is now over 4100. Wonder how long it'll take before we're abusing the 9000 meme with this...

There was also a ticker saying only 127 days left in the year :downs:!

Wow, it's a lot lower than I though. I though it would easily be in the ten thousands. I mean it's still bad that those people died, but it's not nearly as much as I expected.

Indeed. The numbers are quite low.

Considering the Iraqi death toll is 650,000. Its a lil speck of a number.

It is low, it would have been alot higher if it wasnt for the surge. Although you do need to still remember, 29,000 are wounded, and that is a huge number.

They haven't said shit about Iraq. Why? Because no one's dieing. For whatever reason people only like to hear about Iraq on the news if someone blew up 100 people, or a car bomb killed a bunch of soldiers. Otherwise they don't give two shits.

Anyway, when do you come home kornny :smith:

Troops out now, and for the record, there's no such thing as a "surge" that works. Look to the aftermath of the American Civil War, during the reconstruction of the south, the withdrawal of federal troops due largely to issues of lacking sustainability meant an immediate reversion, and the enforcement of the Fourteenth Amendment stopped cold. Throwing more troops into a situation is going to appear to calm it down, but there is no permanence, and it is a waste of lives and money. That's not to mention how much more ground has been covered in violence reduction through peace agreements than additional deployment, already.

More than 4100 lives, and all for nothing, a war for war's sake, feeding the military industrial complex, redistributing wealth for a top heavy society, and instating the building blocks of fascism. Lockheed, Prince, and Friends are more of a threat to the United States than any "rogue state" could ever hope to be.

And the thing that spooks me is the principle global market enemies of these bureaucratic warlords are the agencies-turned-corporations of the Former Soviet Union. Yes, and with a bellicose, babbling, bigot carrying their interests these goons are out to rob us at gunpoint again, after all, what's better to represent an obsolete group of war-mongers than, well, one of their own?

but he's the original maverick!

And note, that 4100 is just from Iraq. We're in other countries besides Iraq "fighting" "terrorism".

Ugh, I don't want to go to Iraq :|. Have no one to blame but myself though, I signed that paper...

I'm buying one in like 3 years :). But I'm buying an M1 Garand next summer first. <3 them. Also since you're in the military can't you actually get a legit m4 with selective fire modes? Or do you still need a license >_>

I've heard that the death toll is actually far higher because it exludes the wounded, but died later soldiers (IE transported by Chopper in a German hospital to die only when there)
