So it's 5 in the morning here in Nebraska and I'm up about to head out to get all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out. Freaking out right now. I hate the dentist/doctor and I keep thinking they're gonna screw up.
I am royally fucked.

Looks like my wisdom teeth are going to fuck with the work 3 years of braces did, so I might have to have mine out too D:

I remember there was a kid in my town who died from the anesthetic when having his wisdom teeth pulled. Hope it doesn't happen to you!
/freakout
But in all honesty, you should be fine. I had mine done in March, and though it hurt for a few days, after a couple weeks, things were pretty much back to normal, and after a month you don't even notice anything. One thing though, your stitches WILL annoy the frick out of you.

Well, all my familly members that are related to a royal family are dead, the last one about a month ago, so...
Yeah, I'll need to get my wisdom teeth taken out soon, and my brother got his done this past summer. It wasn't that bad for him. He couldn't talk for the first two days, and it hurt for about a week. Considering what it is, he had it easy.
Good luck, and I hope everything goes well for you.

stitches? i didn't get any stitches.
All I can remember about the experience is being totally whacked out on anesthetic. I don't drink or do any drugs, but if their effects are anything like that anesthetic, I can almost see why people do it.
The blood is the most alarming part, but it goes away pretty fast. Just try to keep the holes clean before they heal over. It sucks to have them scab over with food residue inside. I know this from experience.
idk why I bother posting tho, seeing as at this point you're prolly already at your appointment.

I know at least two of mine are going to need to be pulled soon - maybe the other two for good measure.
Probably a bit late, but good luck!

My teeth are fine. :awesome:
Only actual dental work I've had aside from checkups was a filling (in a baby tooth anyway so it's gone), and repair work done when I chipped my front teeth (fell face-first onto concrete, teeth went through lip, etc.). No braces, nothing pulled, no need to apparently.

Got all of mine pulled about a week and a half ago. That anesthetic (nitrous) was fucking awesome, plus they let me bring an ipod to listen to music. Most awesome experience ever. The pain after I got it done was really only on the first day, the third day after getting it done I could eat some normal stuff. Now it's pretty much healed all the way.

I didn't actually get my wisdom teeth pulled, but two of my canine (spelling?) had to be pulled because they found another pair of teeth above them that were all ready coming in. It was nerve wrecking at first, especially because I wasn't put to sleep. What my dentist had to do was freeze my mouth, and take plyers to my teeth, and I could hear them crack and snap, but I felt nothing. Only for about a week after they were pulled they hurt to touch but other than that it was kind of awesome!

Already got mine out, if they put you out it's quite fine. You'll just be sore for a few days afterwards, but that depends on how long it takes you to heal up. My recovery time was pretty fast. After that, the pain was more bearable.

So it's over and done with.
They put me on an IV drip, so they knocked me out that way. Next thing I remember is waking up in my room with gauze in my mouth. They gave me a morphine drip, so it felt pretty good. I went and picked up my prescriptions of Motrin 600 and Vicodin. Now I'm home and it fucking kills on the right side of my mouth.
Fun fact: I guess the ones on the right were impacted. They didn't tell me that. Now I can't fucking open my mouth without having blood come out. Awesome.

I have wisdom teeth that revealed when I was about 11. But they weren't slanted or mis-figured so i was able to keep them.

Slightly scary fact: when I was put out, while they were removing my teeth, I came to. Apparently it's not too uncommon for people to wake up during surgery. But I was so zonked out I had no idea what was going on. I remember the doctor talking to me, and I remember that when I tried to respond I couldn't enunciate, and I looked down to see why, and saw a bunch of tools in my mouth and a bunch of blood spilling out. That's about all I remember. It was a weird experience.

By the way, Vicodin is the shit.

I think I had the same thing. It's called Impacted Canines maybe? Two years ago I went through a similar thing. The teeth above weren't coming down so they pulled the baby teeth then attached two small chains from the tooth up in my gum to my braces on both sides. Then at each appointment they would pull the chains down slightly.
The only thing I hate about dental surgery is the needles, and how they are injected right into the roof of the mouth. But the fear can be dulled down a bit if you have some laughing gas.
Still....needles suck. I'm shaking from the thought right now. :(

Commonly, any time from mid/late teens to very early twenties (although not super common for them to be that late).

Oshi, I think mine are just coming in, and since I've only lost 10 baby teeth...is that bad? I did just lose two molars about 2 weeks ago, first 2 teeth I've lost in like, 3 years. Some people say now my teeth will be fucked up, and I'll have to get braces again.

I got mine pulled 2 years ago when I was 13, my wisdom teeth bottom ones, they were almost fully grown but still in my lower jaws gums.. so they took em out and I chose the sleeping method. I couldn't eat for a week without popping the blood filled areas where my wisdom teeth once were. Wasn't painful all that just numb and annoying.
