P0lar asked me a question a few weeks ago which was originally a discussion between him and Bod. I've been thinking about this question on and off, and it's the foundation for this topic.

What are your top five favorite songs? Not your favorites from the past couple days that you can't get out of your head, but the ones which you could never get tired of no matter how many times you listen to it. The ones that you heard once and have stuck with you for months or years. List the song name and the artist.

Now, for the critical thinking. What is it that these five songs have in common? What makes them your favorites? Is there anything that ties them together, or are they all unique in certain ways? How do they appeal to you?

I like alt rock, and I tend to hate angry music, with System of a Down excepted because it's more hilarious than it is angry.

i dont really keep a record of songs i like alot of things over alot of different genre's, but theres teh shiver test, where a part of a song just zero's home and hits chords within you and makes you shiver.
Thats a brilliant song to me.

Thats exactly my thought. All of those songs I listed are the basic moods of my everyday life.

There is a certain part in each song that never leaves my head. My favorite overall is The Killers. It kind of makes me in a happy mood everyday.

Remedy and Party Hard are master tracks.

And as for the covers, I can listen to the master tracks and like them, though I prefer the covers because, for S&D, the RHCP version sounds less washed out than the Iggy Pop version, the GH2 covers sound cleaner, and the Can't You Hear Me Knockin' cover is shortened.
