How is it gonna end people? And I mean HUMANITY as a whole, I probably should clear that up.

Feel free to post your opinions and any dates you might have as well.

the world will probably never end... human species will.

anyway i think people will suffer for many years due to over population and they ran out of food/fresh water. (some say that will happen in our lifetime)
if you look at human population growth:
http://www.learner.org/channel/courses/envsci/visual/img_med/past_pop_growth.jpg

the question is when will that line plateau out. A.K.A. mass deaths of people.

I'm going to be boring and say that in many, many years from now, the sun will complete its life cycle and expand, first burning the shit out of the planet, then devouring it.

Actually, the sun will become a black dwarf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_dwarf) when it completes it's life cycle (theoretically). :eng101:

Before it does that it will burn the shit out of us. Basically it will expand outwards, sending a wave of gas that will own our silly little rock. Even before that the oceans will have evaporated and unless we are out in space, we will be quite fucked and fried.

I think humanity will nuke itself back to the stone age before that happens anyway.

Thus time will start all over again and the world never ends.

Many, many years from now when we've mastered long distance space travels, we will settle in many new solar systems. After some years that all went well, some to that point unknown alien species will start to destroy humanity, by turning the surfaces of the planets we inhabit into glass. Eventually they'll get to earth, and all hope is lost, unless a hero will rise.

I'll go with legionaires and polars story

Humanity will extend its self into the galaxy through the discovery of faster than light travel technologies. Following that, humanity will ascend into a golden age of technology the likes of which transcend the achievments of all races that came before it.

This expansion will not however go unopposed and I foresee a fall happening in some 18 thousand years. Following that humanity will be isolated from its self across thousands of worlds and society will give way to anarchy. That will remain the status quo for around 10,000 years until humanity is once again united by the greatest man who ever lived. A man who many will see as a god and who's vision will unite the stars and fortify humanity against the ills that had befallen it.

From there I imagine we'll all live happily ever after until the end of time. :downs:

I vote robot takeover (just me? what the fuck?) because I am actively and deliberately working to bring about the singularity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity), which will lead to the proverbial "skynet" and our eventual doom. You have been warned.

The "world will end" when the sun burns it up. Idg this whole "omg END OF THE WORLD" stuff, that's a mountain goat asking "when will this mountain end?" If it's pre-set from an apocalypse or mayan calendar, there's nothing we can fucking do about it and at least we could have the common courtsey not to bitch to each other about it. Anything else we could overcome (blow up comet, defeat eebil alienz, learn not to kill each other) and would anyhow be more of an end to humanity rather than the world.

Also, as for the LHC - discarding the MINISCULE chance of it creating a massive vortex of doom, the point also remains that we wouldn't lose anything as we'd be dead before we knew anything went wrong.

Honestly, an Alien Invasion would be the most awesome way for the world to end. If the world doesn't end in an alien invasion, I will be severely disappointed.

Ok, we'll send a nuke to robot aliens that are coming toward the planet on a giant fucking asteroid. Then, the Large Hadron Collider on the asteroid activates, and creates a mini black hole that sucks in the nuke. Then God, who's on the asteroid, throws Bibles at the Earth, which causes Evil Lord Zenu to come and steal our souls.

EDIT : However, after that, we all wake up from a dream, seeing that the world did not end. Not only that, but we don't remember the dream, and don't know how it will end.
Happy now n00b? :P

Alright, so, if a 500km projectile would cause a global firestorm and vaporize fucking EVERYTHING, then evaporate the oceans, turning the Earth into an equivalent of a larger Mercury, how the FUCK could that have happened 6 times already? There would be nothing here!

The water does evaporate but does not leave the atmosphere, so in the end it will come back down as rain  At least I hope it does.

Oh my god, you left out the most obvious one. Zombie invasion. Although I guess it's not the end of the world; just the end of humanity.

And Zombie Invasion is of course a subset of the doomsday plague, which you also left out.

And for that matter, where's our grey goo scenario?

At that heat water doesn't evaporate anymore

Also, I'm gonna be as lame...

The universe will expand so much in 100 Billion years that all fuel ran out, everything is too far apart to be effected by gravity, black holes will slowly run out of energy (even though there might be organism to convert Hawking Energy but in the end they will die as well) protons will break off and only darkness remains.

What you are saying is correct, although there is still a minor secondary theory that states that the universe will collapse and result in another big bang. Although I also believe the theory you posted.

Actually I think the real way the world will end is that people keep fucking each other so much that our horribly gigantic population will throw the planet off its rotation careening it into the sun. Then, all the nukes and etc. that were on Earth will simultaneously explode causing the sun to grow to astronomical sizes.

This new sun will be the greatest threat that our heroes have ever had to face. Its up to the team of Jason, Tommy, Kimberly, Billy, Zack and Aisha with their newly discovered ninja powers to combat this menace. All the while Zordon and Alpha 5 are still recovering from the devastation left by Ivan Ooze. Pushing their newfound powers to their limits, the Rangers must find a way to save not only Angel Grove, but the entire world from the bowels of the sun. They'll have to join forces with old enemies Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd; if they hope to have a chance against Sunstream.

Even with their new powers and allies.. Its going to be one hell of a fight.

ITS MORPHIN` TIME

They've got a power and a force that you've never seen before!
They've got the ability to morph and to even up the score!
No one will ever take them down!
The power lies on their side!

Go, go, Power Rangers!
Go, go, Power Rangers!
Go, go, Power Rangers!
You, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers!

They know the fate of the world is lying in their hands!
They know to only use their weapons for defense!
No one will ever take them down!
The power lies on their side!

Go, go, Power Rangers!
Go, go, Power Rangers!
Go, go, Power Rangers!
You, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers!

No one will ever take them down!

oh god...

I vote never...

you didn't ask when humanity would end....

Also tbh I think that the "dooms day" device machine thingy from that artcle, has a MUCH higher capability of exploding than anything else, especially when compared to the chances of it creating a black hole, thats just my own threory tho.

As for how big the explosion could be, who knows... I just think its gonna explode... seriosuly, stop torturing atoms, there gonna get mad.

Anyone who thinks it will be the LHC is an idiot. There's a higher chance of the atoms in your body aligning just right and making you spontaneously combust.
