Embedding video player objects with subrequests

So, I can't seem to get this to work. I know that the swf tags can be used to embed players and such, but when the player itself is in a separate location than the file it's playing, there's a problem.

For example, I'm trying to embed this video

Here's the link to the player
http://www.ted.com/swf/utilityplayer.swf

And here's the subrequest for the video, which contains the link to the flv file to be played, and the thumbnail
http://www.ted.com/xml/bmw_revolution_video_config.xml



If I embed the player, it's just the player, with no specified video, and I can't embed the things listed as "object subrequests" by themselves. Is there any way to use the swf tags to embed objects with their suberequests so that they'll play the video?
