It would be better than World fucking War II for the goddamn umpteenth time.

I swear if I see a Thompson Sub Machine Gun or a fucking Kar98 again I'm going to throw my controller at the nearest baby.

Hopefully Call of Duty 6 has future waepons or something. The Call of Duty series has covered everything in WW2 and most of the modern combat, now we just need something like BF2142, except better! And with vehicles! Then we should have a modern warfare game with vehicles! Tht would be the bomb!

That's the way it is withall the COD games IIRC. I prefer it that way.

When did call of duty 5 come out?

Also agree with what snaf said. Being essentially invincible without and rational reason like in cod 4 is really lame. Atleast in crysis there was a reason why the player could regenerate, and that was because they were wearing a high fucking tech nano suit :downs:

Fuck that, we need a Ghost Recon type game now. Modern Warfare used current weapon systems and technologies. Now they must expand to the near future (2014-2022 not fuckin 2050-XXXX) and have newer modern weapon systems. And the gameplay has to be a bit more tactical but no so much as the Ghost Recon series where you bore the fuck out of the people playing the PC versions.

I just hope the game will get less linear. I can get over on "One shot, one kill" mission where your ally suddenly dies and the mission fails for no reason if you stray too far away from him.

Not the first game or its expansion.

I agree the current system sucks, but I wouldn't mind the idea so much if it had you hide in a corner to start the healing and then the healing went gradually over time.

You bring up a key point. STOP WITH ALL THE FUCKING SCRIPTING! It's what gave COD4's campaign almost no replay value.

According to an interview with the developers, most of the play testers always chose one way to beat a level over and over in a build of COD2. So the developers got lazy and made COD4 stupidly linear.

Those testers must be stupid then, and probably all have the same play style. Even if there was a lot of scripting, I find Ghillie in the Mist to still have a lot of reply value, just not exactly at the beginning.

COD6 better have some futuristic troop carrier, like the pelican. If they do, they better allow bullet holes in vehicles and make the engines fail if they are shot. That would be awesome, it could just crash land or something then you have to evacuate.

But I don't want it to be shit in the air, when you can see the skybox and shit, they really should add vehicles and make some huge maps. Portalling ftw

I WANT VIETNAM, GODDAMNIT :mad:There aren't many 'nam games for the same reason there aren't many WWI games. Those wars were miserable shitholes, WWI was all trench warfare and dodging artillery shells, and 'Nam was getting your ass handed to you in an ambush in some soggy jungle. Nobody wants to fight in that crap :/

futuristic, ehh? halo already dominates that, no? Maybe WWIII but in like no later that 2100, energy weapons would be ultra gay in a COD game.

Halo does not dominate the futuristic type of games, there are several games out there of equal, and better quality. For instance Half life 2, Crysis, Star wars battlefront shit, etc etc.

I miss health packs lol.

Terin
September 22nd, 2008, 10:41 PM
Well, arguably, it's no fun at all having a single bar of health, going into Final Run on Two Betrayals with that Zealot Elites, the turrets, and all the flood with the rocket launchers and sniper rifles targeting you at the same time over and over and over again.

x_x

It's good to find a middle ground. I like Condemned's system, with a three tier health regen system. If your health went below a third, it could only regenerate up to that third, and a health pack made it go past that third. If only people could come up with stuff that's not in the extremes.

The only real problem I have with health bar based systems (besides the fact that they're not any more realistic than regen systems, you damn whiners) is getting stuck with 1 health point in a really hard area, and having to try over and over again to beat it because you die in one hit. Having your health regenerate up to a point makes it a lot more fun. Also, it's in a way more realistic than either extreme, because one could make the regeneration start only when the player isn't moving, and say it represents the person bandaging themself up, etc.

Yeah, The Resistance Fall of Man system was good as well... sounds similar to the Condemned one.

I still like the F.E.A.R. system the best...you actually had to patch yourself up, and it didn't regenerate past 25.

Depends how you do the energy weapon. If they are your typical, unexplainable, high-pitched, whiny "pew-pew" kind of gun, then yes, I agree whole-heartedly. However, if you add in some real physics, realistic explanations, and the correct sound effects (e.g. a real laser rifle would sound like a modern rifle shot due to water flash vaporizing around the beam), then you get some awesome combinations.

I would so buy that if it were real...

However, Warhammer 40k is not the kind of realistic to which I am referring. Honestly, I don't know how to explain it without an example, and the game industry is lacking an example.

I won't

on the condition it's from the perspective of a regular Infanterie landser so we get to actually see the war from the other side for once

I'm familiar with the term, but not everyone is, but yes, that is correct.

Also, WWII is overdone, regardless of perspective. Even if you end up playing as an Axis soldier, you still have the same weapons, same background, etc. It's just that the uniforms on the enemies are different. You might as well swap models and textures in CoD 2/3/5 with their opposing sides, change dialogue, and call it a new game.
