My computer doesn't seem to like me at the moment. Just randomly, I can't hear any sound, and Vista refuses to play any videos/music. Songs refuse to play in WMP11 - I can choose them, but they won't start playing. However I can play a movie, but Vista's Volume Mixer doesn't detect that WMP is playing anything. Youtube videos won't play for more than 2 seconds either.
So I've restored to a point when sound was working (before I installed office '07 and two windows defender updates), and that didn't do anything. The only thing i've done in my computer is take out my motherboard to fix a bent pin in the IDE plug, and put everything back in. The Device Manager says that my sound card is working fine, and i've tried plugging my speakers into every port in the back of my sound card, to no avail.
The sound card is a Creative Audigy 2 ZS, running a 3rd party driver that has worked perfectly for months. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this? I thought at first it might be that I ruined my soundcard when I took it out to take the mobo out, but Vista can read it fine, and a broken sound card wouldn't stop WMP for playing music.
