So, my computer is slightly dated and doesn't run as well as it used to... so I'm looking in to making a bit of an upgrade. Trying to keep it under $800 (Can't say I have the money right now, but that seems to be a good goal to save up to). So... I need to know if everything plugs in right, and would work. And if you know of a product that tops one of mine for close to the same price please let me know...

I Looking at:

-Case $59.95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042

-Power Supply $119.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256045

-Mother Board $188.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131339

-RAM $54.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231047

-HDD $99.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136040

-Graphics Card $169.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121253

-DVD $53.98 x2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136153

-Fans $14.98 x2 <For Pretty : /
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811998121

-Total $762.86

Also, not saying that's all that's going in to the computer, it's clearly missing the processor and what not, but I have that stuff...

And one more thing... Looking for a large wide screen monitor, HDMI and DVI support... under $300 would be good too.

Thanks guys.

Edit: Crap, forgot to say, I'm not changing the case... so that stays.

Funny, I was looking to do the same thing with my next paycheck. I just might use your idea, though I think I'll skip the GPU and get more and better memory.

You need to get different ram. The ram you picked is DDR 184pin and the motherboard needs DDR2 240pin. This (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231144) one will work though, and only costs $43.99 which saves you $11.

Edit: For the harddrive you can get this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073) one. It is also Western Digital and 500GB, with all the same features and costs $69.99. With the $30 you save on the HDD you can get this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131123) 4850 which has 1GB of Vram and gives a nice boost over the 512MB version. Here (http://www.guru3d.com/article/gigabyte-radeon-hd-4850-1gb-gvr485oc1gi-review/1) is a review with the 4850 512MB vs the 4850 with 1GB.

Oh nice catch, thanks. Thanks for the hard drive suggestion too.

Edit: Like I said, I have 2gigs of ram already... so I wanted to add another 2 gigs.

Don't get the 4850 1GB. There is no use for 1GB of VRAM, plus the scores in that benchmark test were usually only different by 2-4 FPS (except for Crysis :|).

Thanks... to be honest I kind of figured I would stick with the one I picked out.

It really doesn't make a difference but since he is already saving $41 with the memory and the hard drive then spending an extra $30 would still be $11 less then what he had origanally planned on getting. Also the card I linked is slighty overclocked already.

Edit: Why are you getting two DVD burners? Also the prices for the motherboard that you linked to is 189.99, and the prices for the two DVD burners are 28.99 each which is 57.98 not 53.98.

Meh so? I'm a few dollars off, doesn't really matter. And I'm getting two dvd burners cause I used to have a regular cd player and dvd burner, and I really enjoyed having a game in one tray and being able to do whatever with the other... and for close to 30 bucks, I don't see why not...

I second going with the HD4850 1GB. At higher resolutions and higher AA levels the extra memory will help.

Save up more money and ditch your shitty old processor. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103273)
Or this. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103295)

Screen. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014176)

Ram (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184)

Get this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148298) or this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148335) for an HDD. 640GB may be a bit faster, IDK.

I feel like shit atm, =<.
