WATERBURY, Vt. -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.

"PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves," the statement says.

PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.

"The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."

"We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child," said a spokesperson for Ben and Jerry's.

Pretty fucking weird, but it worked.

Fucking PETA bitching about cow's milk... Get over it, we drink cows milk and it's not bad for us. If they would rather have us send women off to the pumps instead of cows then they're stupid.

They must've missed the facts that

A) titmilk doesn't taste good
B) titmilk is beneficial for INFANTS in the first few WEEKS for ANTIBODIES.

please let a health lawsuit spring up from this. PLEASE

God fucking damnit PETA. Fuck those self-righteous, attention whoring asshats. They're a perfect example of a group that always seems to piss off people with brains regardless of how noble their purpose is.

I don't like how they think meat or dairy will immediately give them some horrible caner/obesity.

And since I posted a url to another member on bungie.net spamming them and saying "lol", I got banned for "not being cool".

So guys, in response to this horrible move by PETA, I propose that we create a group called "People for the Ethical Treatment of People". This group will make sure that humans are not abused and mistreated and we will ban the sale of human milk because it causes significant stress and pain on the people involved. Where did we get this fact from? IDK, but that's besides the point.

And we should substitute cowmilk for titmilk, to put less stress on the mothers of course--because god knows how cruel a fate is that makes a mother spend her own milk on her child

So... PETA wants to torture cows?

Reasoning: Cows need to be milked or it will cause them extreme discomfort and other health issues. Horrible little biological screw up in a way, but hey, it gives us good reason to milk them for what they're worth - pun most definitely intended. Your momma's tits? They can stay like that all her life. Cows, on the other hand, need to be milked, which in nature would be taken care of by increased offspring and a significantly shorter lifespan. As we've deprived them of that (the latter should probably be considered a good thing to have deprived them of), and being morally "just" and all that, we owe them milking.

So, again, PETA wants to torture cows by halting a necessary bodily function.

Not that I agree with PETA, but here's where your logic fails:
Farmed cows are kept lactating through artificial means and need to be milked, because they have no calf. Ideally, the cow would have a calf, and that calf would be sucking on the cow's teats. When the calf reaches the point where it no longer needs its mother's milk, the cow stops lactating and no longer needs to be milked. By PETA's logic, if we just left cows alone to live their lives, their calves would be doing the essential milking and there would be rainbows and bunnies and singing birds and everybody would just eat carrots and sit in circles holding hands and swaying to '60s music. We do not "owe" cows milking.

PETA pulled another publicity stunt a few weeks ago here locally. Two women took a shower on main street (behind a curtain) to get people's attention about the waste of water, or something like that.

someone should've ripped the curtain down, that would get them lots of publicity.

And what's this about two women taking a shower in public?

Found an article. Maybe NSFW: http://blog.peta.org/archives/2008/04/nothing_to_see_1.php

Just to spell this point out, it takes 5,000 gallons of water (http://goveg.com/environment-wastedResources-water.asp) to produce just one pound of meat. Which is roughly equivalent to about a full year’s worth of showers (depending on how clean of a person you are).

Hotrod
September 27th, 2008, 11:45 PM
Oh, and what happens to that water? Why, it goes back into the atmosphere, then comes back down as rain! Also, over the years, billions of gallons of water have been used, and are we still here? Yes.

I wonder if they have figures for how much water it takes to produce any non-meat food products. Most likely not, because that would be inconvenient for them.
