How old are we talking? I could probably dig up some burried treasures if you can find a place to get them.

Also -- single or multiplayer.

Anything that's fun I guess. That means no MMORPGs, but Single player RPGs are good. Single is preferred, but multiplayer is good too, as long as it isn't too hectic or anything generic like a WW2 Shooter.

Also, those Buried treasures sound great. Do share.

C&C The First Decade. You've hot DAYS of single player campaigns on there, along with some pretty good AI to fight in skirmish modes on the more recent releases included, all for a reasonable price ($30 at best buy, but probably less elsewhere).

Probably about £20, but 3 CnC games are enough for me (I have RA 1 + 2).
I'm just looking for something I can dart in and out of during the day, Like Oblivion (That game lasted me for months).

Quake 4 has a semi-long campaign.

I've seen GRAW for as low as $10 in the bargain bin area of Fry's electronics - you'll probably be able to find something similar if you look in there.

Lost Planet is fun, just remember to get the Steam version (if you get it retail there is a GFWL version and a Steam version).

Runescape! :awesome:

Vice City is up for cheaps on Steam and then there's some good Half-Life mod you should look into like Insurgency or Natural Selection. Also Red Alert is up for free as well, if you want to be cheap about some new games.

Im beginning to look at some of the mods on steam, they look really cool.
Legionnaire, I'm in england, plus some past experiences from playing GRAW have knocked it off my list. I just hated the game. Plus, I downloaded the RA1 ISO.

Just to put it out there, I'm not looking for any more RTS games, and I'm not the biggest fan of GTA games either. Mostly just Shooters and RPGs, maybe a platformer or adventure I guess.

So far my list is -
Bioshock
Prey
Various Mods
Lost Planet
Quake 4 (Maybe)
ET: Quake Wars (Maybe)

I'm surprised nobody has suggested Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. That game looks sooo badass. I would have pre-ordered it from Steam but I want a real box :v:

Enemy territory wasn't too great. It disappointed me a lot about how it was a "quake 2 prequel" and not a continuation of quake 4.

Also, Quake 2 is kind-of fun, and Halo 2 vista has a decent campaign (Since XP gets no multiplayer).

Descent I/II/III, Freespace 2 SCP, and Tyrian are all amazing games that you can sit down and play for 30 minutes and have fun every time. The latter two are available for free (and FS2 is one of the sexiest games EVER (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6VhyMzu12c)), while the first 3 are dirt cheap. I'm also going to recomend Emperor : Battle for Dune for an RTS. Even if it's essentially C&C (it *is* Westwood after all), it's superior IMO to anything that's come out since EA gobbled up the franchise.

Well if you want to go for seriously buried treasures...

Heard a lot of good things about the original Unreal -- never got a chance to pick it up because the only place I can find it (without picking up redundant copies of UT and UT2004) is on Steam... and Steam is broken. (Can't reinstall it because I need to uninstall it, and can't uninstall it because it's partially deleted... or rather... the harddrive it was installed on took a crap dive... didn't even fix when I deleted it's registry keys as per Valve's help file)

There was a game which occupied my time a lot... one of the first open-world sandbox games... Wing Commander Privateer...

But since you don't have an 80486 :p There's an OpenSource free remake available online (http://priv.solsector.net/news.htm)

You might be able to find old copies of Destruction Derby 2 and Wipeout 1/Wipeout XL for the PC... Those were great fun. R.I.P. Psygnosis :p

Can't go wrong with Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2

Mechwarrior 3 and 4 are *awesome*... unfortunately no-one plays it online.

X-Plane if you want a psycho-realistic flight sim. (some versions are certified as legitimate flight time...)

The original C&C/RAs were already spoken for...

MechCommander 1 was cool... haven't played 2.

Pick up Psychonauts on steam if you haven't played it on a console yet. Seriously... now.

GTA4 is coming soon.

That should be good for a while... though I know I'm going to kick myself for forgetting something.

Edit: Oh crap Space Quest!!!

Mercenaries 2 - World in Flames.

A lot of people complain that it's shit, but after playing it, I think it's like GTA 4 with huge explosions!

get morrowind for the pc. elderscrolls III, you know? the graphics obviously are not as good as oblivion's, but i like morrowind more than oblivion because of the shit load of mods they have for it. seriously, the modding community is what makes morrowind great. same with oblivion

Seriously though, I used to play that game as a kid all the time, had so much fun lol.

The video shows extremely glitchy graphics, but I don't ever remember having that problem, so I think it was just a recording thing, or incompatibility with newer graphics.

Ontop of being a combat flight sim, it was a first person shooter too which I had a lot of fun with.
