Virus Help

I need a small virus scanner that I can put on a slightly outdated laptop. This computer is already being over taxed so I was wondering if there are any good ones.

A small firewall would help too.

This is just for a buddy's Laptop.

You have a few options. Two off the top of my head:
One: Boot the laptop to one of the many available Linux-based virus-scanning live CDs
Two: Pop the disk, slap it in a 2.5"->3.5" cradle (they're only like $1 if you don't have one), and hook it up to a more powerful computer, then do as you wish.
