So I went in for an eye exam yesterday, and they finally diagnosed my eyesight as being mildly red-green colourblind. I found an online test, and apparantly it's a common trait amongst white males. Try for yourself, and let's see how many Modacity members have the condition.

That's actually spot on, considering it said about 20% of people have at least a mild case of it.

imo, I can see green shades fine, its just when it gets to high yellow ranges that it fucks with me. also, red is gay, can't make out their shades

This is about red/green colorblind people, so this should work better:

The only one I had a bit of trouble with was the bottom left one, but I still was able to distinguish the number, just took me a few extra seconds.

All fine.

The last time I went for an eye check was 5-6 years ago. The doctors said I was color blind, even though I saw everything they said. It took them a month to find out they made a mistake by using the wrong test, and I was completely fine.

The Army run colourblindness tests when you're doing your assessment on what jobs you can do here. I have perfect colour vision, so I'm good. What stopped me from my childhood ambition of becoming an RAF fighter pilot is the fact I can barely make out faces from more than 4 or 5 feet away without my glasses :smith:

One of us... one of us... You can ask for the tests whenever you get your next eye exam. I think doing online might skew results as well, what with varying monitor brightness and all.

I saw an 8 at first too. When I looked harder it was a 5.

DaneO'Roo

I cant really see the 5 unless I really focus in on it. I just see a big stark 8, slightly skewed at the bottom but it's an 8. It's probably because we both saw the 2 and the 5 at the same time?

That sounds like a pretty good explanation, actually.

I have really slight red color blindness, everything is more red to me than it actually is, so I sometimes think browns are maroon and blues are purple. So my eyesight is like a less severe version of a film from the seventies.

I've known that I've had red-green for awhile, I was kind of shocked when I found out. But I've recently realized it wasn't a big deal.

I have a mild red-green deficiency. Because of that, I can't work in a Kodak photo lab. :(

because it actually is an 8.

just 2 slightly different shades on it, but it is no where near a 5  or a 2.

Supa edit: lawl, your looking at the second test not the last one in the first test http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-laugh.gif silly me :p.
saw the 5 instantly.

saw the 5 instantly.I saw an 8 then realized it was a 5. Without looking to the side. That was the only one that took me about a second to realize.

I voted "normal color vision" because my American-English speaking brain is incapable of understanding the concept of this "colour" nonsense.

Other than that, I was fine. I could even make out the 2 in the last one if I tried at it.

fonetic spelling is the way of the future. it's progress. deal with it. I think you mean fəˈnɛtɪk ˈspelɪŋ ɪz ði weɪ ʌv ði ˈfjuːʧɚ. ɪts ˈprɑɡrɛs. diːl wɪð ɪt.

When I first saw it, it looked more like an "S" than a 5.
