Yeah, I read about this.

Seems like I'll be buying 3 games instead of 1, though it's basically just 2 expansions.

They said it's 'a full installment' not an expansion, but I realize you said 'basically just'. Eh, the only reason I can think of is not having to see sick nasty lookin' Zerg everytime you choose the mighty Protoss campaign. Or if you're totally racist against one race and don't want it to poison your disk.

As long as they all share the same multiplayer, I dont mind.

They better fucking bundle them together and sell them for the price of 1 and a half games, not 3. Otherwise I'm not getting it.

Zeph
October 11th, 2008, 02:31 AM
You missing the fact that they're three feature legnth games? Why should they sell them for for half price just because they're making a lot of them?

DaneO'Roo
October 11th, 2008, 05:30 AM
No I mean when they do release them, they should release them individually then release a pack with all 3 in it, for a reasonable price. No way I'm paying 110 aussie dollars per game for 3 games, If I'm probably not going to like them. Then there's the possibility of having to pay for a subscription ontop of it like Wow.

Urgh.

Why the hell would you spend $110 on a game ever? :raise:

This.

Australian dollars, it's normal for them to pay 110$ on a game, since it's equivalent to about 60 of our dollars.

pro tip:
n00b is an australian.

also dane, why would you buy all 3 with the potential of you not liking them?
wouldnt you just buy 1 and if you didnt like it, stop there before buying the others :S

Right, my mistake, was half-awake when I wrote that. Sorry about that. I guess I was misinformed about the currency differences as well, since, never really having been outside of Canada for more than 3 days (and that was just once, for a ski trip), I've never really bothered to learn more about that.

Also, the second and third games will add to the multiplayer as well, so they are in a way just very big expansion packs.

Because they all should have been one game anyway.

The one thing I find funny is "No episodic content... just 3 games centering on each individual race"

As long as they kept the Lurkers I'll be good.

Convert ye self, and god hath reward.

Protoss is best, Terran are ok, and Zerg blow ass.

TeeKup
October 11th, 2008, 05:57 PM
Well of course. I've always loved Protoss. But the lurkers were the only real fun I had with Zerg.

Bodzilla
October 11th, 2008, 06:27 PM
you guys kidding me? Zerg fuckign own, it's only on maps with shit all gas that zerg suck.

also the terran are supa-gay

Hotrod
October 11th, 2008, 10:49 PM
Protoss, I loved. Zerg, I really liked. Terran were good.

I liked all the races, though from what you read, I had a preference. I tend to like aliens a lot, and technology even more.

October 11th, 2008, 10:59 PM
How can you not like the Terran's gruff talking marines?

Hotrod
October 11th, 2008, 11:21 PM
I like them, but I prefer the other races.

Terin
October 12th, 2008, 01:19 AM
I love Terrans. I supposed my spontaneously generated name might relate to it somehow, but I just love setting town siege tanks and having a massive force of marines and medics that I can have in top-condition at all times.

As for this move, I'm all for it. Sure, you won't know how everything ends immediately right when SC2 is first released, but it'll help make each campaign much more memorable. The system they have for the Terran single player campaign seems very interesting, but it won't be so easy to just replicate for the Protoss, and especially Zerg. I'd like to see each one have a unique way of going through the campaign. And, of course, we'll still have the map editor and all three races at once, so that won't be a problem.

I like how Valve went episodic with Half Life, as it has allowed them to make some pretty significant changes over time, like HDR, Self-Shadowed normal mapping, improved shading and facial animations, and so on, and they were able to apply it to their off-shoot games. This will work for Blizzard, as they'll be able to do significant changes to the races every new campaign. Fun stuff.

Only if your impatientSTUPID enough to buy them as new releases instead of waiting a few weeks for the price to come down.

Hotrod

As I said, I made a mistake. Just so I know, how much is an Australian dollar worth compared to a Canadian dollar?

And I've only bought one game the day it came out, or even near it's release date, and that was Halo 3.

Oh my....waiting more than 1 year for 3 games that are suppose to be 1. Blizzard is really putting their fan's loyalty and patience to the ultimate test.

Kalub
October 12th, 2008, 06:58 PM
Meh, I wouldn't think it will be a full year seeing as this one is almost over.

Hotrod
October 12th, 2008, 10:45 PM
Damn, and I thought it'd be coming early 2009. Oh well, we've waited over 10 years, one more won't kill us...too much.

Kalub
October 12th, 2008, 10:46 PM
I think they need to do what Dano said; create a 'chest' pack and sell it for cheap. I don't want to buy three games :(

E: mods; please fix the transparency on that. It looks shit on the Source theme. :/
