So does anyone have any action/war movie peeves about guns, explosives and such? I thought this was rather funny:

I also hate when guns are firing with the bolt locked, when people "cock" their gun EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME they get ready to shoot, and how explosions are fucking huge.

Yeah lots, so much retardism in movies

I mean, if it's a fucking awesome movie I'm prepared to overlook slight issues, but still. It pisses me off. Kind of like when I see MP40s firing from closed bolts in WW2 games, really.

idk about you guys, but I think curving bullets is an awesome movie idea. I'm not a fan of stupidly huge/multiple explosions for something pathetic, though.

well, technically you could curve a bullet like in Wanted... No human can fucking sling a handgun around that fast though, lol.

No, it's impossible. It's the same concept as swinging a ball on a string around in a circle. Where ever you let go, no matter how fast you're going, it'll go in a straight path from where it left your hand.

And I hate how they always cock their gun, and no shell ejects. That means they were just about to kill someone with an empty chamber >_>. So...all the other person had to do was jump the guy with the gun.

Are you people all serious? Do you actually care that much about the exact number of explosions / OMG cocking gun!

Movies are never realistic. If you wanted to get really deep into it, you could complain about the set that behind them which is some giant studio. Or those tons of styrofoam rocks and the gun you guys love and care are just plastic things that most of the time don't even shoot.

I honestly can't even think of a single time where I noticed about most of the problems you guys are talking about.

They're gun fanatics.

You're not.

That's why.

Can't think of an analogy to go with this. Some people have certain peeves, some overlook it with no problem, it's all on the person.

I hate it when people fire eleventy billion times in a row without reloading.

I hate how nobody can shoot worth shit, and any little piece of wood will shield the hero from bullets.

K. ^ Will do.

:)

I don't see this stuff often, but when I do it doesn't bother me that much.

Yea, I'm not one of those people who go to a movie and then comment when someone fucks up with a firearm. I like to watch the movies for enjoyment and fun, but it's funny to see just how BAD they can get...

For instance, apparently in the latest episode of "Flashpoint" (yet to watch) their sniper shoots a target with the bolt up.

That's the only one that bothers me... especially when it's a fucking 6 shot revolver or something :\

I hate it when they use sound effects that are clearly for semi automatic rifles for bolt action rifles. In Shooter, in the opening scene, the first rifle Mark Wahlberg uses has a sound effect that includes a ping near the end - the bolt cycling. Then, what happened next really bugged me. He pulled out an M82 (No, not an M95, I checked), which is a semi automatic rifle, and proceeded to shoot at a helicopter while CYCLING THE BOLT MANUALLY. Not only that, but it had the exact same sound effect as the other rifle.

I don't remember much about it but i think it was awesome when Rambo had to swap the box on the .50 cal.

Having a relatively uneventful life normally, I actually enjoy the LOLHUEG explosions and the occasional "dramatic"-or-"badass"-though-completely-incorrect gun use. Though it's a problem, like with any cinematic, if the shit is overused and it's not in the name of parody; like the Rambo scene from UHF was funny what with Al blowing up fucking everything, whereas if I saw that in a more serious action movie, it'd be retarded.

Heh, heh, heh, yeah! YEAH! FIRE! FIRE!

I'd say my biggest peeve is plot twists that you can see coming from a mile away. Yeah, action movies aren't about plot, but still.

This is why I could not enjoy the old spawn movie.

Question since we're semi on the topic: I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to guns, but when firing a fully automatic rifle does the bolt reciprocate with each round or just stay back until you stop firing? I only ask because in different video games it happens different ways. I would think that it would need to reciprocate but what do I know...

The games where it stays back until you stop firing were made by teams that had shit animators.

In some movies its not too bad if it looks awesome and they don't really have time to reload because it would cause a break in the action. However it really pisses me off when they don't reload and the action is somewhat slow paced.
