So I went to play some CoD4. I put the disc in the console, turned the monitor on and saw this:

Am confused. The disc is clean, too. The dashboard says it's just a DVD though :|

Must mean it's finding the DVD portion before it finds the the game's executable. Can DVDs get bad sectors (not counting scratches)? o.O

Try running one of those DVD/CD lens cleaner disks through your 360 maybe? The lens might have some crap on it that's causing it to mis-read.

Did it with both Halo and CoD4, but after restarting it's working now. Hopefully it doesn't pop up again too soon D:

Mine does this as well from time to time with my H3 disk. I'm just hoping it will stay with me until the November update, when all it has to do it see that the disk is in the tray, not actually read a lot of info off it.

still siliconmaster, it has to read that same part of the disk to verify the game is in the dvd drive to play it, and its exactly the same portion it reads(the security sector, pfi, dmi, video partition) to see its a game when your on the dash. So if it gives you probs now, and even if you do copy it to your hdd, your still going to have that problem next month and forever unless you get it fixed, if you have the knowhow(like me) or have a warranty still.

Well I recently had the ring of death and I did the towel trick and it's been working fine for over a week now :D

So yeah just thought I'd share.

Well I tried to turn it on today and it happened again v_V It's out of warranty too, so hopefully it'll last a wee while yet.

or buy a new dvd drive and learn how to replace it. its really simple.. just gotta dump the fw from both, extract the dvd key from your busted one and replace it on the new one.
Ive done it a few times, also fixed my bro's red ring of death, by doing the xclamp replacement. got another job on friday doing a xclamp replacement and mod job
