I'm currently working on a single campaign level called "Epsilon". The campaign is based on a Freelancer who is implanted with a corrupted AI and goes rampant. You play as this freelancer as he fights his way through the military cruiser "Thor" which is currently orbiting around earth. Too beat the level you simply have to get to the escape pod on the side of the ship.
Anyways I've finally finished scripting all of the AI and events so all that's left to do is build the cut scenes and balance the map. Since this kind of game play is really different from the original Halo campaign I decided to ask you guys to test the map and help me balance it out and make it easier or harder where ever need be.
The game play I set up for this map is a lot more Cover based and is a bit more "tactical" than the standard halo campaign. Enemy's are a lot weaker but they move in groups and can do a lot of damage if they get a good shot at you. Too make up for the more difficult enemy's I shortened the recharge length for you shields.
Currently there is just the standard weapon set on the map but I plan on adding a secondary grenade type to make up for the lack of plasma grenades and the 2 frag limit I placed on the map to stop people from spamming there way through the level. I'm also considering a making a power up to replace the flash light but I don't think I will unless I come up with something really cool.
Here's the current set up of the map.
\\Marines - Low Health, Inaccurate, Not to smart
\\Armored Marines - Medium Health, Inaccurate, Smart enough to throw a grenades and dodge etc...
\\Freelancers - Have shields and a lot of health, Very Accurate, Very smart, Come in many flavors like Cloaked and Rocket Launcher Wielding!
Any one up for the beta post here I'll be uploading it tonight (Since the file is fucking 100 MB) and I'll link anyone I trust with the beta. I'll also post the source script so you guys can scan through it and tell me anyways I could improve it.

Sounds great. I'd help you, but I'm pretty busy with school stuff, but I could pitch in a few animations every now and then, unless you want to use default.

Finally someone caught that. Obviously my inspiration came from RvB. Anyways I'm changing a couple of the encounters from alert to searching since that seems to work better then I'm going to upload.

Ok, just played the beta. Its impossible to complete the level in normal circumstances with a noob/player who isn't skilled. They will die. EVERY TIME.
Suggestions:
1. Make the marines and spartans damage ratio LOWER. Jesus, the spartans definitely need to, as they kill you almost instantaneously. No noob will get past them. The marines are ok, but try to lower them down a bit.
2. A glitch randomly happened while I was playing. I was reverted to the last checkpoint, and when I went through the next area, no enemies spawned. This glitch makes you get almost to the end without killing/dieing to enemies.
3. I know this is a beta, and the game is hard, but seriously, ROCKETS AT THE END WITH A WARTHOG? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? >_<
No one, and I mean NO ONE, will beat it without cheat_deathless_player.
Rethink that battle please.
4. Speaking of battles, most of the battles I had (Mainly the storage room with the fake weapons) had no checkpoints after the battle. If you die in the room after the storage area, you have to refight that storage area all over again. Its frustrating. :(
Btw, like the SP map, tis fun! :D Just annoying :P

I thought it was pretty average difficulty but I had played through it so much that I had gotten used to the difficulty so I didn't know if I was miss judging difficulty. If you know what I mean.
I'm pretty sure the checkpoint glitch was caused by skipping through a trigger volume before it registered the player being in it. I'll look into this.
Also you can get a rocket launcher just before the last battle with the warthog off the dead spartan in that dark room. 2 shots from that rocket launcher will take out almost all the guys near the hog. That was planned to be like that.
Checkpoints are kind of hard. You can only save when there are no enemy's near the player so I usually have to set save points between each BSP and between spawns and events. I'll do my best to add some more where I can though.

You can use game_save_totally_unsafe to save even if there are enemies nearby.

cancels any pending game_save, timeout or not

disregards player's current situation
(game_saving)
checks to see if the game is trying to save the map.
(game_revert)
reverts to last saved game, if any (for testing, the first bastard that does this to me gets it in the head)

The beta was fun, but I wasn't able to beat it. The checkpoints are too few and far between. I thought that the AI were extremely well set up though, it was enjoyable

It was fun, Ai was challenging at times. Though in the armory, soo many guns but no ammo in all of them. Also it seemed a bit bland, it was just walk and shoot.

I loved this, especially the fact that you need to be quite stealthy to get through the battles, and need to find a lot of cover. The Sniper and the Shotgun were my best friends in this level. One thing though, is that you could use a few more checkpoints in the cafeteria/armory area. I also find that there are a few areas that are too empty, like the hallways. Maybe if you put a few enemies here and there in them, it'd be good. After all, a ship wouldn't really be empty like that, would it?
As for the armory, the ammo being on the top wasn't the best idea, because some people might have missed that.

I thought about putting things in those hallways but I wanted those to be the safe checkpoint areas. I may throw a few crewmen in there though.
I'm gonna move the ammo too cause a lot of people could'nt find it.
Thanks too everyone for the crit so far. This will hopefully find a release date sooner or later.
