Fuck. Just fuck.
Recently, I've been getting this error VERY often, some games won't go more than five minutes without it happening. It's only started happening for the past month or so, and now it's gotten to the rididididiculous point. Solutions?

Have you been overclocking? That happened to me when I overclocked mine too high and the heat shot up (back when I used Vista). Or it could just a lack of air flow in your computer, causing it to overheat or something.

No overclocking at all. I guess I could check about heat. Maybe get some dust out.

That happened to me on Vista when I kept minimizing and maximizing in and out of a game (don't ask why).
But it only happened on Vista (I use XP now), and even so the games were unaffected. Try updating the drivers?

If it's a heat problem, download a program like speedfan and just max out your fans if you can, I did it to my desktop yet I don't hear any difference, while my computer seems cooler.

Restart your PC if you get it, if you don't it will keep happening.

You've got a driver problem.

Just updated to the new ones. It never did this before, either. So, driver problems.. Anyway to fix it?

Roll Back to your previous drivers.

Is it possible to rollback more than by more than one driver? Because I only installed the 178 one yesterday, but I've had problems longer than that.

I believe this is a heat problem as others have said, I used to get this all the time when it was getting hot.

The heatsinks on the 7900GT and 7950GT are pretty bad. Besides dust buildup, the fan might not be spinning up to full speed when it enters full 3d mode on the drivers you've used.

Get Ntune or equivalent and see what your GPU's temperature is. More likely then not, if your computer has been working fine before this and you haven't tweaked with anything inside, it is just a driver issue. But it's always good to double check.
It's probably a good idea to get the latest drivers anyway, they improve performance on a whole mess of games.

That's with no games running.Yeah, you should clean the whole system out before it dies.

As in dust and stuff, right? Because my hard drive and stuff is pretty defragged etc.

Well, cleaning it might help. Try that and if that doesn't affect your temperatures then your fan is probably about to fail. You'll need to send it back to the manufacturer or buy yourself an aftermarket cooler.

Well, it's been a whiiiile since I bought this gfx card, don't know if warranties are still good. Got it down to 60C, at fan 100%. Is it bad to always have fan running?
E: Gah, 100% turns off after a while, after playing a game it was back up to 85C. New gfx card time?

What brand is it? Is it a model with a custom heatsink? Also, you may need to take the card out of the system and take apart the heatsink to clean it fully.

It's some sort of BFG brand, not really sure.
But crap, I guess I could try it. I'm really considering a new gfx card now. I got a little over $200. Best card for the money?

AGP or PCIe? The 7950GT came in both versions.
If PCIe, get the HD4850 or GTX 260

PCIe, and ok. And wow, had no idea 7950GT was AGP.
E:Hey, I was wondering if it would be an okay idea to get HD 3870 X2? It's benchmarks are a lot better then a bunch more expensive cards, and it's in my price range. Also, can't find a GTX 260 under $230.
