I think the red dot you have looks sexy enough.
Guys, I really don't think Masterz cares about the accuracy of his scope vs. real life scopes. You seem to be forgetting that Halo takes place over 500 years in the future. I don't think they'll have the exact same scopes they do now, so, not to be insulting to anyone here, taking scopes from a gun of today is kinda stupid, IMO.

guess its a good thing halo doesnt support a flag saying "panic when lasered" :haw:. however, if youre using a projectile for the "laser" i'm sure you can work some kind of AI magic to where after its been on the AI for so long, it will cause the AI to notice it (maybe some form of non-harmful super-detenation?)

Bungie seems to agree with Heathen.
(That little thing on the top of the SMG is a Red Dot Laser Sight, just more compact then CMT's version because of 500 years of advancement)

I still think you should use none of them and make something better. This is Halo, the future. They have holograms. It would be nice for a change and something different like a iron sight style but with some hologram emitters to emmit a dot or something.
I havnt seen something like that been done before. I think it would look cool, with some pretty lights as well :)

I honestly approve of anything but the scope, unless they trick out the scope with an awesome feature. I like the reflex scope, though they say that it's hardly an option. I say put the iron sighting in to show that CE can have iron sightings in it, since this mod is all about pushing the engine to its limit. Then again, I'm sure an intricate scope feature could be enough to make it worth having the bulk on the small SMG. It's mainly it looking funny that bothers me. Because of the SMG's look and groves on it's top, the Iron Sighting just fits it better IMO.

Well it's mainly the proportions of the barrel to the SMG, the barrel matching the groves, and the fact that you're putting a barrel on the SMG. Those three things just make the barrel clash with the rest of the gun and its design.

really commonplace. the laser sight doesn't replace ironsights, it's an aim assist.

An OSDT's helmet does more than just conceal one's identity or hinder head shots. IIRC, in Cole Protocol OSDTs have HUDs of their own (which I'm sure Recon will backup), so why would they need a red dot sight on a weapon when they have a system that works just like a spartan's HUD? Kinda doesn't help the whole "oh well its a fallen OSDT's SMG" defense...

The ODST's are a strike force. They don't defend (except when their backing up already established ground defences).
They attack one place, then move on to the next. They may have kept the place clear while the grunts set it up, but after thatn it would be up to the normal marines. The marines don't have HUD's.
If the marine's died after they left, then it would make sense for there to be a mix of weapons there.
But really, who gives a fuck. Lasers are cool.

It uplinks to the HUDs.
Pretty much anything can always be explained if you want to make up enough back story for it. Like Snaf used Covie tech as reasoning for the carbine clip. It doesn't make sense, unless you want it too by using some made up reasoning.
And I have no clue what I was thinking with that laser-ironsights comment. I believe what I was meaning to say there's no real need for another irronsights when the SMG already has one.

Well the SMG is such a small gun, I'm sure cramming it would make it awkward to hold and recoil would be weird. Halo3's recoil was better, but it does puzzle me why Spartans move so slow. They need to be moving at 110%.....but I'm not going into H3, that's a rant not needing to happen.
But I agree Killa, WTF IS THE DEAL WITH HOLDING A GUN STRAIGHT. You can flip a tank for crying out load AND drag a 2 ton bomb across Cairo Station....

The SMG recoil makes sense in Halo 2. Bungie added in camera-based recoil to weapons, and that high-ROF bullet hose only rode up when you laid on the trigger.
Hell H3R has the laser sight, and it makes 0 sense for that seeing as it has iron sights built into the gun.I can slap a laser aiming module onto an HK USP/Colt M4/HK MP5/etc, and they have iron sights. LAMs are for aim assists and for the "cool factor" of being able to shoot from the hip accurately. :P
Look, all I'm saying is that the scope looks absolutely tacky and cumbersome no matter how you look at it. A red dot sight or laser aiming module would make much more sense and look better.

Well, unless for some reason you're having transactions from night to day during missions, for night missions the holographic red dot sight that is shown on the SMG and the CoD4 pictures can usually be turned green. Just a little detail that doesn't mean much, but is something that, that particular red dot sight can do.

So we discovered what was causinga major problem in the mod last night. For the past year or so, we're not exactly sure when, we started using an older than current version of HEK+, and there has been data loss and corruption in most of the scenario tags. The most recent HEK+ rips with significantly less corruption, but there is still some minor things that go wrong. This has been causing multiple problems with the original encounters for a long time, and caused some of the biggest bugs in the mod.
We found out that the older predecessor of HEK+, HTC is able to rip the scenarios with no data loss, although there are multiple other things wrong with it that can stop maps from compiling. We plan on releasing HTC sometime soon, for other people who need to inspect the encounters as Bungie made them, since HEK+ seems to be not completely reliable.
So rejoice, another major bug's solution has been found.

E: Yes, I recall ripping CodeBrain's phantom from a map he sent me because I was missing some tags, and I ended up corrupting about 50 different tags, including my globals which fucked up everything. This will be nice.

Er, it may not work as well as HEK+ on the tags that your having problems with. When I say corrupt I'm not talking about tags that don't work, I'm talking about data nd values that were corrupted when extracted. firing point AB being refed to firing points TU and such.

What if the soldier ever had to ditch their helmet for whatever reason? They'd want something good to aim with. Also, realistically speaking, you can turn a laser pointer off. As for gameplay...it all comes down to what you think would happen in RL.

You can play it, but to enjoy it you really need a high powered card. Most of CMT is able to run the mod well with an 8600GTS. Which reminds me I need to get my 8800GTX RMA'd and replaced.

How is your average fps? 40-60? I have the same card.
Also, would my CPU help me out a lot for this mod, or would there be little-to no effect in FPS?

I like the addition of gameplay, but I do have to stand by what I said earlier, that a10 really doesn't need more of the same identical hallways. The new rooms and warped hallways are good, but the repetitive hallways tick me off, because even the original was too repetitive. :/

I think I prefer H1's assault rifle sounds to H3's. H3's sounded like a plastic toy to me. "Blaka blaka" SMG was beast though, although the H2 one I didn't really hate too much. The clanks to the Sniper and Battle Rifle were kind of cool too, sounded more realistic to a gun, and less futuristic than they were in H2.

B/C40 is going to be going through some seriously cool environmental changes once we have the new BSPs done, so don't even expec tthe pyramid to look the same as it does now when we're done.

Well that's what we may be doing. Regardless, it's always going to look out of place when you are using a quality cliff texture on something like an unnatural rock bridge.
It's tiring to hear people complain about things that are not our fault, that we have no practice way of changing, yet even after we tell people off about it several times, they seem to ignore it.

It looked fine as it was. Your the ones who went "Now how can we fuck up the best looking levels in halo? I know, lets change the entire feel of the level and take away what made it special to begin with!".

This is a mod, sorry if you don't like it, but we're going to be doing the things we want to do. Plenty of people have complimented that cliff texture, just as an FYI. It's not our fault Bungie decided to do the UVs in the manner they did, so it looks tacky on some surfaces.

I guess that for the first time in years, I'll actually NOT take the Banshee at the end of aotcr and skip the pyramid... I expect epic win n' fun from SPv2, I just know it! Just do what your good at, so we can all appriciate your marvelous work! :)

2. Obviously it was taken when the gun was ending a grenade throw animation, as you can see the remnants of a grenade particle effect straight ahead.
3. There's another shotgun pic there where this doesn't happen, further proof of #2
4. When the fuck did you become animation king of the world? Why do you feel the need to critique anything and everything that has to do with animations that you lay your eyes on? Most of what I've seen from you isn't perfect in any way.

If you knew what you were talking about, you'd know that it doesn't happen when you stand still. it only happens when you move, fire, and it gets really bad when you do both at once.

I don't know what I'm talking about? Please. Snaf's crit comes from years of experience and a job in the industry. What's yours come from? some tutorials you've found online and 1 year of fooling around in max? It's not making me sore, it's just irritating that someone in your position thinks your high enough on the foodchain to dish out crit like that every time you see something animation related. Even when they didn't ask for it.

The difference is that Snaf knows what he's talking about, and can identify exactly what's wrong with something that needs to be fixed since he's a professional.
FYI, yes I had been spamming grenades into that hallway. The shotgun animations are fine. Both pictures where the shotgun is held were taken while standing still.

Different class flood elites ftw. Do the floodified elites have any stat increases based on what class the elite that got infected was? I only ask because I see a major and zealot flood elite.

Unfortunately no, but we had an idea for new bsps in c10, where you would see captured elites in tanks where a single flood form would be introduced that would show their infection, and then the glass would shatter and it would attack you, and the ensuring firefight would blow open otehr tanks full of flood infection forms and stuff. But then we realised we were working with h1. :(.
Oh and the higher the amour on an elite flood form, the stronger their shields.
