Use HEK+ to extract tags from a map.

but how do i get the scenario file? from what folder?

teh lag

If it's a stock SP map : levels\mapnumber
If it's a stock MP map : levels\test\mapname

Keep in mind you'll also need the bsp, lightmaps, shaders, and bitmaps associated with that scenario.

yes i figured that because it keeps saying that I am trying to open "a bad scenario file - BAD!"

so how do i get it to work?

Right click on a scenario tag, go down to "Extract to". Then make sure the check box labeled "Recursive" is checked. That will extract all the tags that the scenario tag is dependent on.

are you running vista? if so, disable the aero theme and enable vista basic. HEK+ really disagrees with the vista aero theme

Is the Scenario in your tags folder? I think I got that error once when I tried to open a scenario that wasn't in the tags folder.

i still get the same error from sapien...
It would help if you told us what the error was. Open up debug.txt, scroll down to the bottom and copy and paste the last entry here.

theres nothing there... its for the last time i used tool, this has nothing to do with sapien

it says tool pc blah blah blah at the top theres nothing in my debug txt for spaien just a pop up that says "your trying to open the wrong scenario BAD!!!!" or something close to it

There has to be an entry there. Try opening the scenario again, then the error for sapien will be on the bottom of debug.txt. And also, not giving a specific error does not help in any way.

Edit: Ok, the error you are getting is probably: "you tried to open a non-scenario tag, Bad!". This means that you are not even opening the right tag, you need to be opening the file with the extension ".scenario".

Is this the error: "you tried to open a non-scenario tag, Bad!" ? If so, make sure the file your trying to open has '.scenario' after its name... The only possible way it's giving that error is if your opening a non-scenario file. We told you to extract the scenario file, open the one you extracted it should be in the tags folder in the same directory you extracted it from with hekplus. If this doesn't help then there's no possible way of me helping you other than going to your house and showing you how easy it is. Which I won't do.

you beat me shadow, but i'll keep this up to fend off any further questions.

Obviously you are, there is no fucking way you opened a true scenario tag, or else sapien would not be telling you that.

Your phrasing sounds like you agreed that you're that dumb, and offered to make a video to prove it. Is this what you intended?

Maybe the scenario file became corrupt (HEK+ loves to do that sometimes). Delete the scenario file and extract it again with HEK+.

Ummm in three pages how has no one asked for his debug.txt? He may just have a corrupted animation tag or a missing dependency in the scenario.

Mets copy the last few entrys of your debug.txt from your halo CE directory.

^

also, metsfan, delete the file your trying to open then extract. Hekplus doesn't overwrite the file unless you check the specific flag (which i don't recommend, since your recursively extracting).

As Choking showed you, I have asked for it, and have yet to get an entry from debug.txt. A corrupted animation tag or missing dependency would just make Sapien close out, not display the bad scenario error.

I did that 4 times

Ok, as I have said before. Open sapien, try to open a scenario, then look in debug.txt at the bottom. If it still doesn't display anything related to sapien, then try opening sapien from the sapien exe, instead of opening it by clicking a scenario tag.

metsfan0908
November 11th, 2008, 04:47 PM
ok did it still got the same error by running the .exe and still nothing in the debug.txt

i have heard of debug.txt not being dumped to under vista. Try running sapien as administrator, and then retry debux.txt

Choking Victim
November 15th, 2008, 07:53 AM
In his situation, sapien doesn't even begin to execute loading the scenario, therefore it cannot dump anything to debug.txt.
