did u completely uninstall it then install it again. Don't do repairs they usually don't do much... otherwise idk...
The only other time i know of an error like this was when my friend had 3dsmax, but it said there was a file missing that got deleted accidentally and it told you the file name in the error.

I had a error like that when I installed Max 8 on my friends vista laptop. I think it means your missing a dll or a plug in or some crap.

You should call autodesk and have your purchased license info ready, they'll get it sorted out instantly.
I lol'd.
Most people here use versions of max that were obtained through means of un-legality.

Yeah I had that problem with painterinterface.dlu. Is there anyway I could fix that? I'm still stuck with GMax because of this setback with my 3DS Max.

So, I'm a terrible person cause I'm 16 and I don't have 700 bucks to spend on a some software that I'm using to create FREE mods for a community?
Most teenagers don't have that kind of money to spend on software. Now someday when I get a job I will buy the software because it is definetly worth the money for how much functionality it has but at the moment. ARGH ME MATEYS! WE SHALL RAPE AND PILLAGE!

I might be able to help you with that. Talk to me on PM and tell me what all the error says.

I didn't say I stole anything. I may have "hinted" at it but I plead Innocent.
And I look at it this way.
It's just borrowing till you have the money to pay for it. And someday you will.

Things you can try to do:
Make sure that .Net framework is up to date.
Uninstall completely and reinstall. (and by completely, i mean everything including registry entries regarding 3dsmax, so you might have to use CCleaner)
Restore defaults by deleting or renaming the 3dsmax.ini (got an error one time after messing around with some render settings, by deleting this file, you will restore factory settings.)

I suspect you disabled the Autodsesk Licensing Service startup program. Set it to run in msconfig and Max should start fine.
No, it's not contacting Autodesk.

So I'm terrible cause I'm 17 and I don't have $30,000 to spend on a car...so I'm going to go steal one :downs:.

There are free 3D packages out there that you can use. Convert the files to 3DS and have a friend with 3DS run them through the tools for you.
Most teenagers don't have that kind of money to spend on software.
When I was like, 13 or 14 I worked my ass off for a few months and bought a student copy of 3DS Max. All $600-blah blah blah worth of it. All the way from $0 up to $650someodd. None of this "Oh, I'm a teenager, woah is me! I don't have any money!" If you really wanted that software legally you could have worked for it.
(protip: work harder.)
Now someday when I get a job I will buy the software because it is definetly worth the money for how much functionality it has but at the moment.
Because we all know that Autodesk will still be selling outdated versions of 3DS Max for you to purchase 5-10 years down the road.
I love this excuse because it's just so shitty. It's amazing how easily people forget about little things like $650 pieces of software after a few years.
