I'm building a pc with the help of a friend right now (because I'm a noob). My pc is gonna have a NVIDIA nForce 750i motherboard and a Q9300 for my processor. My friend says the stock heatsink is a joke and that I need to buy another one. He's suggesting I go with this: http://www.petrastechshop.com/thulhecpucos.html
and buy a seperate fan to clip to it. He currently owns a Zalman 9700 NT and said he'd prefer the other heatsink for my system. I personally want the Zalman since it seems like less work for me and because I'm a newb at this. But the only problem is that the Zalman 9700 NT has green LED but my case has blue LEDs. But I can get the regular non "ultra quiet" Zalman 9700 for $4 less with Blue LED. Would going with the Zalman heatsink/fan be that bad of a choice? And if not which one should I get? The NT "Ultra Quiet" or Regular for $4 less (not sure about the performance/feature difference).

Regular: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019
NT Ultra Quiet: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118020

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

The regular Zalman is not all that loud so don't worry about that, and the TRUE is the best air cooler you can buy. The best cooling, or decent cooling that's easier to mount. If you're not going to overclock, or only a light overclock, the Zalman will serve you well.

Had he gone i7 his system would have been much more expensive I bet. Only high end motherboards right now.. plus DDR3 prices compared to dirt cheap DDR2.

I like the arctic freezer 7 for the q6600 system I built. dirt cheap at under $30 and gets the job done. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than stock.
